If the end of 2017 and all of 2018 were the prerogative of Fortnite, now the Epic Games title seems to have finally found bread for its teeth. At least when it comes to online battle royale. In the first half of February online Electronic Games released Apex Legends, a title developed by the software house Respawn Entertainment and capable of immediately attracting the attentions of gamers around the world.
In the first week of play, 25 million profiles were registered, with a peak of 2 million gamers connected simultaneously to the Electronic Arts servers. Real record figures, which could jeopardize the supremacy of Fortnite in a particularly “moneyed” sector: at the end of 2018 Epic Games announced that it had ground billionaire profits precisely thanks to Fortnite, allowing the founder of the software house to become one of the richest men in the world.
What is Apex Legends
As mentioned, Apex Legends is a free-to-play battle royale video game developed by Respawn Entertainment and distributed by Electronic Arts. The title is set in the world of Titanfall 2, another video game distributed by the American company during 2018 and considered by many as one of the best of the year. Only that the universe of the Titans has been revised and readapted so that fit perfectly on the dynamics of the game of battle royale that are very fashionable for some time now. On the gameplay front, Apex Legends has a few new features compared to Fortnite, but the game system is not that different from the Epic Games title.
How to play Apex Legends
If you have even a little experience or knowledge of Fortnite, you won’t have trouble understanding how to play Apex Legends. As mentioned, the game dynamics are the same, with some differences that are impossible not to notice. First of all, although it is a battle royale, you won’t fight all against all. First of all, we’ll have to choose one of the eight Legends created and developed by Respawn Entertainment’s programmers and designers: each of the Legends will have a specific role in the game (support, defenders and attackers) and it’s up to the gamer to find the one that best suits his or her gameplay characteristics.
Once you’ve chosen your alter ego, you can start playing: you’ll be included in a team of 3 legends (you can either choose randomly from the system, or invite two friends) with whom you’ll have to beat 19 other teams (each challenge, therefore, will see the simultaneous participation of 60 gamers) in order to gain experience points. The main objective as soon as we land is to find as many weapons as possible: at the start, in fact, we will be completely unarmed, in case we can not find any weapon as soon as possible, we will seriously risk being the first to die.
How to download Apex Legends
At least in this first phase, Apex Legends is available for PC Windows 10, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. To download it on PC you’ll first need to install Origin and then search for “Apex Legends” with the internal search engine. On the two consoles, instead, you’ll have to access the store and launch the game installation. If you have an Xbox, though, be careful: you’ll have to have an active Xbox Live Gold subscription.
