Xiaomi Watch Color 2 is official in China: it’s a youthful smartwatch with good hardware and a very attractive price
Xiaomi Watch Color 2 was officially announced at an event that the company held in the motherland, in China. This is a smartwatch dedicated to sport, and you can see it from the angular shapes, almost aggressive, of the case and especially the structure of the perforated silicone straps that do not try to hide the sporty attitudes.
And from a smartwatch whose name is “Color” you can only expect an interpretation of the straps yes in a sporty key but also available in various colors that certainly do not make the Watch Xiaomi go unnoticed. At launch six have been announced: blue, green, orange and yellow, but there are also the classic black and white for those who need a more discreet tool. The Watch Color 2 from Xiaomi, as per tradition for the Chinese company, is a product that focuses strongly on value for money. The hardware of good level – even includes the sensor for measuring SpO2 – is balanced by a price that, in China, seems very attractive.
Xiaomi Watch Color 2: what it looks like
Xiaomi Watch Color 2 has a circular AMOLED screen with a slightly larger diagonal than its predecessor: it goes from 1.39 inches to 1.43 inches, while the pixel density is 326 ppi. There is a wide choice of dials, which are more than 200. Surrounding it is a metal frame available in three different finishes, which together with the three colors for the straps available at launch give relatively abundant choices.
Xiaomi Watch Color 2 supports 117 sports modes including 19 professional. Monitoring is ensured by the presence of dual-frequency GPS and sensors for continuous heart rate monitoring (24/7), blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) that also allow you to monitor to sleep. There are also NFC for contactless payments and Bluetooth for connection to smartphones or direct to headphones. Important for sportsmen the water resistance up to 5 atmospheres.
On the autonomy front, Xiaomi declares for Watch Color 2 up to 30 hours with GPS tracking active, without you can spend up to 12 days away from a charger, while the maximum autonomy is reached with the energy saving mode that allows you to reach 24 days. The battery is 470 mAh, up 50 mAh from its predecessor. The operating system is Xiaomi’s proprietary, so no Wear OS from Google.
Xiaomi Watch Color 2: how much does it cost
Xiaomi Watch Color 2 was announced in China where it is already offered for pre-order, with the first units that will actually be available on the market from September 30. The pre-order price is set at the equivalent of about 120 euros, while exhausted this phase Xiaomi Watch Color 2 will be offered at the list price which is equivalent to 130 euros approximately.
Still no information about the possible marketing on European soil. Should it arrive though, it would certainly do so at higher prices due to higher taxes and shipping costs.
