Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro official with fingerprint reader under the screen

The Chinese company is about to launch the Pro version of its top-of-the-line smartphone with a fingerprint sensor hidden under the display, here’s what it will look like

Somehow it had preannounced it in June, during the presentation event of its new top of the range, but to see it “live” it took quite a while. The Xiaomi Mi8 Pro finally becomes official, with its 6-inch-plus screen, first-class technical specifications and, above all, a fingerprint sensor “drowned” in the screen.

The new Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro will arrive on the market in three different colors, all very special, Sunset Gold with gradient colors that tend to pink or orange depending on light reflections on the body, the classic Black version and finally the original model Transparent Titanium, also with color variations that depend on the light of the environment where we are. The design is practically the same as the Xiaomi Mi 8 and the introduction of the fingerprint sensor inside the screen has changed only slightly the rear appearance of the device. The technical features are also practically the same.

Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro: technical specifications

The Xioami Mi 8 Pro is a smartphone with a 6.22-inch screen with SuperAMOLED technology and 2248 x 1080 pixel resolution with 18:9 aspect ratio. On board we find the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor and Adreno 630 GPU, all supported by 6GB of RAM. And there is also a premium version with 8GB of RAM. There are three variants for the internal storage, depending on the price we decide to spend on the device: 64/128/256GB. It is not clear if all these three variants will be available in the Italian market. The Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro is a dual-SIM phone as per Xioami tradition and has a 3,400mAh battery equipped with Quick Charge 4.0+ technology.

Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro: photo compartment

The Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro has a dual rear camera with a 12-megapixel sensor with 1.8 focal aperture and another 12-megapixel sensor with 2.4 focal aperture. It can record videos in 4K. In the front we find a single 20-megapixel main camera equipped with support for Full-HD videos and several features for selfies and portrait effects.

Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro: availability and pricing

At the moment, the launch in the European market is not yet official, although in China the new top of the range Xiaomi will arrive on September 21, 2018 and after a few weeks should also reach the Italian shelves. There is curiosity to understand which versions of the Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro will reach our country, while for prices a first indiscretion comes from the official cost of the phone in China. The version with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage at the exchange costs 399 euros while the variant with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage costs 449 euros. It is very likely, however, that with the arrival in Europe these prices may be slightly raised.
