Xiaomi Mi 11 announces itself as a device capable of competing with the best top of the range smartphones 2021, but unfortunately the price in Europe is far from that practiced in China.
The hope that Xiaomi Mi 11 would be a low-cost top of the range shatters against the latest rumors reported by Android Authority: there are European prices of the new Chinese smartphone, albeit unofficial, and they are not low at all.
The price of Xiaomi Mi 11 with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, which arrives on the international market on February 8, will be identical to the launch price of last year’s Mi 10: 799 euros. The version with 256 GB of storage will cost 899 euros, while there is currently no news about the version with 12 GB of RAM. These prices are significantly higher than those charged in China for the same devices, which are sold in the motherland by Xiaomi at about 500-550 euros at current exchange rates. As usual to drive up the price in Europe are the shipping costs and, above all, taxes. Xiaomi Mi 11 still remains cheaper than other top-of-the-line smartphones, but you can’t say that it will be a device within everyone’s reach. There is not even hope at this point for the Pro version and the alleged Ultra version: they will be expensive.
Xiaomi Mi 11 at 799 euros, is it worth it?
Regardless of the price Xiaomi Mi 11 is, at least on paper, a great device and is equipped with all the latest technologies available: SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon 888, 3.2 GHz RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.
The screen is an AMOLED well 6.81 inches, curved on two sides and with 2K resolution and 120 Hz refresh. But, above all, it will be very bright with its 1,500 nits peak.
As usual, the top of the range of Xiaomi mounts the latest available Samsung photo sensor, in this case from well 108 MP, capable of recording video up to 8K resolution. The battery is instead 4,600 mAh with very fast charging: 55 Watts wired and 50 Watts wireless (10 Watts for reverse charging of other devices). Closes the data sheet an excellent audio, signed Harman-Kardon.
Clearly we are faced with a cell phone that many would like to have, able to rival Samsung Galaxy S21 and Apple iPhone 12. If we compare it to the latter two, on the other hand, you can see the true value and understand the price: with the same memory Galaxy S21 starts from 879 euros, iPhone 12 starts from 939 euros.
Xiaomi Mi 11: when it will cost less
Like all Android devices, and unlike Apple’s iPhone, Xiaomi also depreciate quickly. The average price of an Android device a year after launch, in fact, drops from 65 to 85%.
This means that it could take just six months to buy, in Italy, a Xiaomi Mi 11 at the price at which it sells, today, in China.
