Having trouble playing Apex Legends on Windows 10? Here are some tricks that will allow you to start the game of the moment
Able to score incredible numbers in the first week of launch (25 million registered users and peaks of several million gamers connected at the same time), Apex Legends is considered by many as the true rival of Fortnite. The two titles share several elements – video game genre, game mechanics and schemes, virality and much more – and seem to be destined to contend for the scepter of game of the year in this 2019.
Despite its success, however, Apex Legends is by no means bug-free. On the contrary: the distributed title from Electronic Arts can give more than a few headaches to users, to the point of discouraging some from installing or playing it. How to solve Apex Legends problems on Windws? In case the software doesn’t want to start up, you have at your disposal some easy-to-apply solutions, so that you can get back to playing in a matter of seconds.
Run as administrator
If you didn’t give Apex Legends the right privileges during installation, it could also be that the Microsoft operating system prevents it from running. To check this hypothesis, right-click on the game’s icon and click Run as administrator. If Apex Legends launches, it means that you have found the cause of the problem the first time. Now, however, you’ll need to change one setting in order to automate this process.
Right-click on the Apex Legends icon again, choose Properties and, in the window that opens, select the Compatibility tab. Check the Run this program as administrator box and save the changes by clicking OK.
Repair the game
It may happen that due to a glitch in the game (or in the operating system or other programs installed on your PC) some system files have been corrupted and are no longer readable and executable. To test this hypothesis, open Origin, select Apex Legends in your game library, and right-click on the icon. Then click Repair Game or Update and wait for the operation to complete. Now try to launch Apex Legends and check whether it starts or not.
Check your firewall and antivirus
Sometimes the antivirus and firewall installed on your computer may get confused and mistake a legitimate software like Apex Legends for a malware that tries to steal data from your PC. To prevent this from happening, they might block some files or close the ports used by the game to connect with Electronic Arts servers. To test this hypothesis, you should open Windows Defender Firewall, click on Advanced Settings and, after selecting Incoming Rules, verify that Apex Legends is part of the list of browsing-enabled software.
Delete and reinstall the game
If none of the above solutions solved your problems with Apex Legends, all you have to do is delete the game and install it again. Open the Control Panel, click on Programs and then Uninstall a program. In the list that appears, select Apex Legends, select it and then click the Uninstall button. When the process is complete, start Origin, search for Apex Legends in its library and start downloading.
