From Queen of Chess to The Mandalorian: there are many titles that have received one or more nominations. Here is the list of candidates and where to watch them.
The Golden Globes 2021 are approaching: the ceremony, which is usually held in January, this year due to the pandemic will be celebrated on February 28 and will be presented by actresses Amy Poehler and Tina Fey. This is an important moment for the show, which anticipates the Oscars, which will be held on April 25.
The Golden Globe Award is the prize given to the best film and television products, so it also includes TV series. There are twenty-five categories, 14 for film and 11 for TV. A few days ago the titles nominated were announced. The novelties of the 78th edition are really many. For the first time there are three female directors nominated: Emerald Fennell, Chloé Zhao and Regina King. Among the films with more nominations stand out Mank and The Trial of the Chicago 7, while the most popular TV series are The Crown, The Chess Queen but also The Undoing. The award ceremony will be aired, exclusively for Italy, on Sky Atlantic on the night between February 28 and March 1, 2021. Let’s see which TV series are nominated and where to watch them.
Golden Globes 2021: streaming platforms nominations
With the closure of theaters, streaming platforms have played a crucial role in the distribution of feature films in 2020. In fact, alongside TV series, they have distributed numerous films that could not be shown in theaters. Not to mention the original productions that are enjoying huge success with audiences.
In the 78th edition of the prestigious Golden Globes, Netflix has 42 nominations: 20 for cinema and 22 for TV series. Amazon Studios, on the other hand, has accumulated 10 (7 films and 2 series). Also present are HBO, Hulu, AppleTV+ and Disney+ productions with The Mandalorian.
The awards are given by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, a prestigious association composed of just under 100 journalists specializing in film and television products.
Golden Globe 2021: TV series nominations and where to watch them
The Golden Globes are divided into twenty-five categories: the awards are given not only to the best film or TV series, but also to leading and supporting actors, music, screenplays and so on.
The TV series are divided into three major categories: mini-series, drama series and comedy. Among the most interesting ones stands out The Chess Queen, which received a nomination for both best mini-series and best lead actress Ana Taylor-Joy.
