Which smartphones will Qualcomm’s brand new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 end up on? Here are the ones that will have it for sure, between official and unofficial confirmations
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is the latest ultra-high performance chip unveiled by Qualcomm. It will be the main choice of manufacturers who will launch a top of the range smartphone in 2022, unless the revolution started by MediaTek with the Dimensity 9000 will not take away valuable market share to the American company.
Not all manufacturers who will use the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 will necessarily communicate it first to the press, but some who have not yet done so are certainties, although at the moment there is a lack of unequivocal statements by the top management. But think if OnePlus 10 and 10 Pro didn’t have Qualcomm’s latest top-of-the-line chip: it’s simply impossible. Just as if Samsung, at a time of chip crisis such as the current one, suddenly decided to equip all the Galaxy S22 coming out in early 2022 with only the Exynos 2200, after alternating for years its chip with the equivalent of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. The following Android smartphones will certainly have the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, as their respective manufacturers have already officially confirmed its adoption.
Xiaomi 12
Xiaomi 12 is the one on which there have been fewer doubts. The company was among the first to announce that its next top of the line will have the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, indeed it was quick to break the news that it will be “the first ever” to have it. It will be announced to the world by the end of 2021, in all likelihood in the coming days.
Realme GT 2 Pro
The Realme GT 2 Pro we talked about recently by virtue of the latest rumors about it. It will be the first top of the range made by Realme, a young company born from Oppo but above all ambitious. It has accustomed us to products characterized by an excellent value for money, but now it believes that the time has come for maturity, and that’s why it wants to offer fans a top of the range without compromise with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. It will arrive soon.
Motorola Edge
It was announced at the Snapdragon Summit Ruben Castano, the director of customer relations at Motorola: we will make a top of the range with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, he said. It will be Motorola Edge, whose world premiere is expected on December 9. It is very likely that the presentation will cover only Chinese customers, as well as the first devices sold should remain within Asian borders. But Motorola will not make a powerful top of the range to market it only in China, so in the coming months expect news from the winged house even in our parts.
Oppo Find X4
Oppo was among the last companies to confirm the use on Find X4 of Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, but even in this case the doubts were few. In recent years, the Chinese company has always had at least one smartphone with Qualcomm’s most powerful chip on its list. In 2021 it was Find X3, in 2022 it will be the turn of Oppo Find X4.
