The releases of all the top-of-the-line smartphones that will mount the Snapdragon 845 have been revealed on Chinese microblogging site Weibo
The first piece of the puzzle of top-of-the-line Android smartphones coming out in 2018 has been put in place: Qualcomm unveiled the new Snapdragon 845 in early December at an event held in Hawaii. Smartphone companies can now begin mass production or development of the devices they will launch during 2018.
The Snapdragon 845 is the evolution of the Snapdragon 835: it promises much higher performance and 30% battery savings compared to the previous model. It will be mounted on all top-of-the-line 2018 Android smartphones: from the Samsung Galaxy S9 (only in the United States, in Europe it will arrive with the Exynos 9810 that will be presented at CES 2018) to the OnePlus 6. Thanks to a message that appeared on Weibo, the Chinese microblogging site, it was also revealed the month of release of the smartphones that will mount the Snapdragon 845. Here’s when the Android top of the range will come out in 2018.
Smartphones coming out in February 2018
The first Android top of the range will be presented in February and will debut the following month. These are the Samsung Galaxy S9, the Galaxy S9 Plus, the LG G7 and the LG G7 Plus. The release date and features of the Galaxy S9 are certainly not new, on the contrary the G7 was shrouded in a blanket of fog until now. The indiscretion released on Weibo allows to understand both the date of presentation (probably late February during the Mobile World Congress) and the hardware present under the screen of LG’s top of the range.
Xiaomi Mi 7 and HTC U12
In April and May 2081 will be the turn of the Xiaomi Mi 7 and HTC U12. The Mi 7 will be a borderless smartphone with a 5.65-inch screen, while the spec sheet of the HTC U12 has not been revealed yet. The Taiwanese company is going through a very complicated moment: the U11 Plus, among the most interesting smartphones seen in 2017, was only announced and never saw the light of day.
Top-of-the-line Android smartphones coming out during the summer
With the arrival of warm weather, companies will not go on vacation. On the contrary. In June there will be the presentation of as many as three top of the range: the long-awaited OnePlus 6 (although some rumors give it out in March), Sony Xperia XZ Pro and the Nubia Z18 (which in Italy will be marketed under the brand of Archos). In August will be the protagonist Nokia with the Nokia 10, a top of the range with borderless screen.
Samsung, Google and Xiaomi: the protagonists of September and October
Between September and October 2018 will focus the most interesting smartphones. The Samsung Galaxy Note 9, LG V40 (last year it made its debut at the Ifa in Berlin) and the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 will be presented. Three very interesting devices that could mount a fingerprint reader under the screen. In October, however, it will be the turn of Google with the Pixel 3 XL. In the same month, according to the post published on Weibo, should also come out the Sony Xperia XZ2, HTC U12+, Nubia Z18S, all with chispet Snapdragon 845.
Closing the year with a bang
In the last two months of 2018 will make his “debut” also Motorola with the Moto Z (2019). Compared to the model released in 2017, this is a very late release. It is likely that the US company will try to anticipate the launch at the end of the summer. Before the end of the year will see the light of the OnePlus 6T.
