WhatsApp, with iOS 13.6 comes a long-awaited feature

With iOS 13.6 has been released a new feature also for WhatsApp: in the shortcuts of the share button are also present the most used chats

Apple has released iOS 13.6, the new version of the iPhone operating system and among the various innovations there is one that also concerns WhatsApp. Are available, in fact, the new shortcuts that allow you to quickly share with WhatsApp users images and content on the Internet. The new feature has not been announced by Apple, but by the account WaBetaInfo, always very well informed about the latest news concerning the messaging app.

Of this new tool we had already talked about it in recent weeks saying precisely that it would be available with the iOS 13.6 update. This means that to use it you don’t have to update the WhatsApp app, but directly the iPhone operating system. What changes does the new feature bring? It is not a revolutionary tool, but it is still very useful for users who use WhatsApp. One small note: the new feature is not compatible with WhatsApp’s Screen Lock, the security tool that forces the user to enter a fingerprint or use FaceID to access the app. You have to choose between one or the other.

How WhatsApp’s new shortcuts work

Contact shortcuts are finally available on WhatsApp. We’ve been talking about them repeatedly over the last while, and we said they’d be coming with iOS 13.6. And they have been. Apple made the OS update available on July 15 and at the same time this new WhatsApp tool was also activated.

What are we talking about? It is an addition to a feature already present on Apple smartphones: when you click on the Share button, now among the shortcuts also appear your favorite WhatsApp chats, or at least the most used ones. This way, sharing multimedia content such as images, photos and GIFs with your friends will be even easier.

This tool, however, conflicts with WhatsApp’s Screen Lock. It is not possible to use both of them. If you prefer to have the shortcuts available, you have to go inside WhatsApp, press on Settings, Privacy and disable “Screen Lock”. At this point you send a message on WhatsApp and then check if the share button shortcuts include your favorite chats.

What’s new in iOS 13.6

In addition to general improvements in the stability of the operating system and bug fixes, iOS 13.6 brings with it some very interesting little new features. A digital key has been released that allows you to get into a car and turn it on using the iPhone directly (a feature initially expected with iOS 14). The Health app has been improved by integrating new symptoms that could be a prelude to some new disease.

How to get the new iOS 13.6 tool

In contrast to all other new WhatsApp features, in this case you don’t have to update the messaging app, but directly the iPhone operating system. If you still haven’t received the notification with the update to download, enter Settings, then General and press on the “Software Update” item. Inside should be the iOS 13.6 update to download.
