Can’t see the name of contacts on WhatsApp? Here are some tricks to solve the problem in less than five minutes
We have talked many times about the many special features of WhatsApp and how easy it is to use, as well as the fact that it has very few problems and bugs. This is due to the much work done by the technicians and the thousands of tests done before releasing a new feature. But not everything is always perfect. There are cases where even WhatsApp has some pretty serious problems.
A fairly simple example is when instead of the contact’s name we see his phone number. It is not uncommon to open WhatsApp, enter a chat and see the number instead of the person’s name, even if we have saved it in the address book. What is this problem due to? Is it an error of the smartphone or WhatsApp? The answer is: both. It is an annoying problem but very easy to solve: you just need to know how to do it and change some settings of the app and smartphone. Here’s how to do it.
WhatsApp, I see numbers instead of contact names
The causes that do not allow you to correctly see the names of contacts on WhatsApp are two: a wrong synchronization of WhatsApp, problems with the permissions given to the application. Solving both is quite simple, just follow the correct steps.
The first thing to check is the synchronization between the WhatsApp app and the contacts. What needs to be done?. Open the settings of your smartphone, press on Users and Accounts (the name changes depending on the version of your device) and then on WhatsApp. At this point press Remove Account and confirm the decision. Open WhatsApp, press the icon to start a new chat, then on Menu and finally on update.
If these steps do not work, the problem may lie in the permissions given to WhatsApp. What should you do? Open the Settings of your smartphone, press on Apps and Notifications, select WhatsApp and Permissions. Here you need to check that access to your smartphone’s address book is enabled.
If this doesn’t work either, the problem may be more serious than expected. There are two solutions: backup WhatsApp, following the different procedures for iOS and Android, delete the app and re-install it from scratch. Alternatively, you have to contact the smartphone manufacturer and try to find the source of the malfunction.
