On WhatsApp there are hidden features that not everyone knows, but to activate them you need to know the procedure. There are also risks: what are they
WhatsApp offers users many features very different from each other: you can send multimedia content, your location to friends, create groups, make calls and video calls. These are all services that users are very familiar with and use every day. The messaging application, however, also offers much more: there are hidden functions that few people know about and that not everyone uses.
How to activate these hidden functions of WhatsApp? The Spanish site dedicated to Android “El android libre” has discovered a trick to use the hidden functions of WhatsApp. This is a somewhat complicated procedure (you need to install two different applications) and it also involves some risks: in case WhatsApp technicians discover the activation of hidden functions they could also block your profile forever.
The hidden functions mentioned by the Spanish portal are none other than the features present in the Beta version of WhatsApp. Like all popular apps, WhatsApp also has a trial version that anyone can install on their smartphone and thus become a beta tester. In this way you can try out new features in advance. There is, however, a price to pay: the beta version of the messaging app is less stable and may happen to have problems and bugs.
WhatsApp, how to use the hidden features
The procedure to follow is not very simple: if you have no experience with the Android world our advice is to give up. The first thing to do is to download the VMOS app from the Google Play Store. This is an app that allows you to install a virtual machine on your device and use a second version of Android. VMOS needs to have root permissions on the smartphone in order to work.
After completing this step, you need to install a second app on the new virtualized environment. It’s called WA Tweaker and it’s a WhatsApp clone app that offers premium features not present in the regular version of the app. For example, it allows you to enlarge the text size, change the font or create unlimited groups. The app, however, has a big problem. It’s not on the Google Play Store (where WhatsApp clone apps are not allowed) and you have to rely on third-party online stores to download it. Unofficial stores usually have major security issues: there are viruses and spyware hiding inside the apps that can infect your smartphone and steal all your personal data.
What are the risks of activating hidden features
In addition to the security issue, there is an equally serious one. In fact, much more serious. By installing WA Tweaker and using it as the default app for WhatsApp, we could be blocked forever by the messaging app. In fact, in WhatsApp’s terms and conditions it is specified that the only app you can use is WhatsApp itself and any illegitimate use of clone apps is punished with account lockout.
A viable alternative
If you feel like trying out hidden features of WhatsApp, our advice is to install the official beta version. You can find it directly on the Play Store and you just have to become a beta tester to use it. In this case you don’t run the risk of receiving a perpetual ban from the app.
