Sometimes it may happen that our iPhone won’t charge the battery. The reasons? Dirt in the Lightning port, broken charger or cable
Having an iPhone that doesn’t charge smoothly is a real hassle. Before changing your smartphone or taking it in for repair, there are some simple steps you can take to try and fix the defects in your Apple phone’s battery.
Sometimes smartphones don’t charge perfectly because of trivial mistakes and carelessness we make every day. For example, you might put an iPhone in your pocket, backpack or jacket and find that the Lightning port is filled with dust, dirt and lint. These foreign objects may prevent proper charging. Before taking your phone to a service center or making a drastic decision to change your device, let’s give our iPhone’s Lightning port a good cleaning. But how can we clean our smartphone?
To clean the Lightning port of the iPhone we just need to buy an antistatic brush. It is an accessory that can be found for about ten euros on major e-commerce and electronics stores. For a quick solution we can use a toothpick instead. Avoid using too much force to remove dust and lint.
Check the charger
If our charging port is perfectly clean but charging problems persist then the next step is to check the status of our charger. Sometimes we “mistreat” this accessory by stuffing it hard into bags or pockets and over time it can become damaged. In case the charger doesn’t work anymore the advice is to replace it with an official one and not with an imitation. And if we buy a third party charger we should at least check that the charging power is compatible with our Apple smartphone. The risk is to damage the battery forever.
Check the cable
The charger might work perfectly but the iPhone won’t charge if the problems are in the power cable. This is also an accessory that can easily break especially if it is crushed, falls on the ground or gets water. If the cord is damaged beyond repair then it is time to change it. We buy only Apple cables or Apple certified cables. On the various e-commerce you can find various certified power cables for a few tens of euros.
