The next generation of Apple TV 4K has arrived. Unveiled during the spring event, along with the new iMacs (full details here) and the new iPad Pro (full details here), the new device has Apple’s A12 Bionic processor as its focal point, as well as completely revamped dedicated color-balancing technology and remote control with Siri, a version that’s even more precise and easier to use than the last version.

With the latest version of Apple TV, the sixth, Apple brings to the field a novelty particularly awaited by fans of the bitten Apple, namely that of the A12 Bionic chip that much has been talked about for its power, already experienced on the devices produced by Cupertino more recent as the iPhone 12. The introduction of the new proprietary chip promises users an even more enjoyable and rich 4K viewing experience, also improved by the technical implementations that go to act in a capillary manner on the color calibration, automatically and respecting the specifications most used in the film industry.

New Apple TV 4K: how it is made

As anticipated, it is the Apple A12 Bionic chip to introduce the main innovations of the Apple TV 4K. With the implementation of the proprietary processor, performance improves and support is introduced for watching HDR content at 60fps, as well as Dolby Vision videos. This is good news for iPhone 12 Pro owners, as they’ll be able to stream videos saved in that format directly through the new device via AirPlay.

The small Apple TV 4K box, available with both 32GB and 64GB storage, also hides technology that can make colors more realistic and vibrant. To do so, simply connect an iPhone to the device that, in a few moments, can perform the color calibration of the images shown by the connected TV.

Allowing this type of operation are the lighting sensors of the Cupertino’s smartphone that, in fact, allow Apple TV to collect data to perform automatic adjustment operations. Everything happens, therefore, without having to put hands on the settings of your TV, in a precise and targeted.

With the new generation of Apple TV 4K changes the remote control, completely revolutionized compared to what we saw in the past and made of aluminum. It has a clickpad with five-way navigation and recognition of touch and gestures, such as swipe and circular movement, to simplify navigation within the content. Among the buttons available, those to manage the TV and to call Siri, Apple’s voice assistant, with which to interact via the built-in microphone.

To manage everything, then, there is once again the operating system tvOS, through which you can download and install on the Apple TV applications and games from the App Store. To these, then, are added those pre-installed by Apple, such as Apple TV, Apple Music, Arcade and Fitness, which can be used by subscription. For streaming, however, there is the aforementioned AirPlay, present on the latest devices from Cupertino.

Apple TV 4K can also be used as a home hub for the control of HomeKit accessories, with lots of notifications received directly on your TV. No less important is the multi-user support: each member of the family can take advantage of the option to store their preferences, access their apps purchased through the App Store and play with their profile on the Apple Arcade.
