The Battle Cap Challenge is the new challenge born on social networks starring celebrities and football players. Here’s what it’s about
A new challenge is going viral these days on Instagram: the Battle Cap Challenge. It all started on July 1 with a video posted by Jason Statham (British actor and martial artist, famous for having participated in films such as Mercenaries 1,2 and 3) on his Instagram profile able to collect over 5 million likes, 130,000 comments and viewed almost ten million times. In the slow motion film the martial artist removes the cap from a water bottle with a spinning kick, without touching the body of the bottle at all. A perfect Chuck Norris spinning kick.
After Jason Statham published his video, many tried to replicate the artist’s performance and in a short time the hashtag #battlecapchallenge went viral. At the moment there are more than 70,000 posts published on Instagram with this hashtag and also on Twitter and Facebook there are many videos of ordinary people trying to open a bottle of water with a roundhouse kick. Why did famous people and soccer players (even Zlatan Ibrahimovic posted a video on his Instagram account) agree to participate in the Bottle Cap Challenge? Actually, there is no official explanation, there is no charity event related to the challenge, but it is just a way to show off their physical abilities.
What is the Battle Cap Challenge
It is not the first and it will not be the last challenge born on social networks. Very often, challenges are created between celebrities to show off their technical skills. And the Battle Cap Challenge falls into this field. It is a test that puts coordination and strength to the test. What is it all about? You have to remove the cap from the bottle with a flying kick a la Chuck Norris without dropping water on the ground.
In just a few days the Battle Cap Challenge has gone viral and many celebrities have posted a video in which they perform the challenge and invite other celebrities to do it.
Who’s idea was the Battle Cap Challenge
The idea did not come from Jason Statham, but he is just the one who made the challenge famous. The first videos were shot inside martial arts circles, but the origin of the Battle Cap Challenge is not very clear. It might have originated from Farabi Davletchin, a Kazakh Taekwondo champion.
Is the Battle Cap Challenge dangerous?
The answer is very simple: no. It is a harmless challenge: the only danger is getting the target wrong and spilling the water from the bottle on the floor.
