Strikerz announces a new football simulation video game, based on Unreal Engine, and doesn’t mince words: it will be revolutionary compared to FIFA and PES.
The historical duopoly between FIFA and PES (with the latter being called eFootball from this year) could soon be broken by a third competitor to the throne of the best soccer video game: UFL. Announced, but not really presented, yesterday at the opening of Gemescon 2021, UFL is the result of more than four years of work of the developer Strikerz Inc., which at the moment does not appear to have created other known video games.
There is a lot of curiosity, but little real news, about the arrival of UFL: Strikerz has published a first teaser video, from which we understand only that the game is based on the Unreal Engine, that it will be free-to-play and, above all, that it will be fair-to-play. Definition, the latter, which on paper means very little but in essence is a blow to FIFA and eFootball, many players considered two titles pay-to-win: if you do not buy players and teams there is no hope of winning. At the moment, therefore, we can describe UFL only through the words of its developer, entrusted to a first press release announcement of the game.
UFL: what Strikerz Inc.
UFL will not have much room to maneuver between the two giants PES and FIFA, which have already signed exclusive license agreements with all the major teams in the world of soccer. We won’t find, therefore, the famous teams with their real names.
We will find, however, 5,000 players with their own name, surname and face, thanks to the agreement between Strikerz and FIFPRO, the international mega-union that protects the image rights of more than 65 thousand football players in the world. Players will be evaluated based on data collected by InStat, one of the world’s largest sports statistics companies.
UFL’s aspirations are far from modest: “We want to reinvent soccer video games from the ground up, offering players around the world an exciting and revolutionary fair-to-play experience. We’ll see.
UFL: when it arrives
This question is not yet answered because Strikerz does not cite any date, simply saying that “UFL is being developed starting in 2016. The game will be available as a free download and we will regularly add new features and updates without mandatory payments or annual fees.”
Then Strikerz clarifies, “The new video game will be available for all major consoles, the release date will be announced soon.”
