First arrival on the Pyrenees for the Tour de France 2019: here’s how to follow live streaming the twelfth stage on smartphones, tablets and computers
The Pyrenees are coming and the hottest period of the Tour de France 2019 begins. After the first eleven quite interlocutory stages, characterized by many crashes that also affected some GC men, it’s starting to get serious. In the twelfth stage from Toulouse to Bagnères-de-Bigorre the riders will face two first category mountain grand prix: the Col de Peyresourde and the Hourquette d’Ancizan. The arrival, however, will not be uphill, but at the bottom of the valley, after about thirty kilometers of descent.
Many are waiting for this first taste of Pyrenees: until now only the sixth stage has presented long climbs able to put in difficulty the cyclists. The climb up the Col de Peyresourde is 13.2 kilometers with an average gradient of 7%, while the Hourquette d’Ancizan is 9.9 kilometers at 7.5%. These are not climbs that can put the riders in difficulty, but they come after quite nervous stages and someone could have suffered them. There is unlikely to be an attack by any big names and Alaphilippe might even be able to keep the yellow jersey.
The twelfth stage of the 2019 Tour de France from Toulouse to Bagnères-de-Bigorre will be broadcast by Rai and Eurosport. Fans can also follow it in live streaming on RaiPlay and on Eurosport Player.
Tour de France 2019 stage 12 Toulouse – Bagnères-de-Bigorre: start and finish times
The start of the twelfth stage of the 2019 Tour de France is scheduled for 11:30 a.m., while the finish is expected at 5:00 p.m.-5:30 p.m.
The route
The twelfth stage of the 2019 Tour de France is 209.5 kilometers long. The first 130 kilometers are virtually flat, with short ups and downs that will weigh down the riders’ legs. The first climb of the day is the Col de Peyresourde, 13.2 kilometers with an average gradient of 7%. Long descent that leads to Guchen where the climb to the Hourquette d’Ancizan begins, 9.9 kilometers at 7.5%. Finished the climb, there will be 30 kilometers of descent to arrive to Bagnères-de-Bigorre.
The favorites
Today’s stage lends itself to many tactical solutions. It’s probable that a breakaway will arrive from afar with a considerable advantage. For the classification men it’s useless to waste energies today: from Hourquette d’Ancizan to the arrival there are more than 30 kilometers of descent. Alaphilippe could even be able to defend the minute of advantage he has in the general classification from the Ineos duo Geraint Thomas – Bernal.
The Italians could give us some surprises. Nibali is now out of the classification and the route of the stage could perfectly fit his characteristics: long climbs with quite technical descents.
