TIM down today, what’s happening

TIM hasn’t been working since the very early hours of January 9 and the problem seems to affect a bit all major Italian cities. Here’s what we know about the outage

Since the very early morning of today, TIM users in most of Italy are reporting failures and malfunctions to their phone line. Specifically, according to posts on various social platforms and specialized portals such as Down Detector, most of the problems would be concentrated on fixed line Internet services, although some complain of problems with the smartphone. In short, TIM is not working and users are looking for possible solutions.

There are thousands of TIM landline users, in fact, who are unable to surf from their home or office PCs. The problem, according to the comments of the users, would concern the DNS used by default by the Internet connection of the former monopolist of the house. DNS servers, although little known, are fundamental for the correct functioning of the Internet and, in case of problems, users could accuse slowdowns in navigation or, as in the case of Tim down on January 9, impossibility to visit any site or download e-mails.

TIM doesn’t work on January 9, how to solve

A possible solution, suggested by many in various forums and online discussions, is to change the DNS of your connection and try to restart the PC. Many users who were experiencing various slowdowns in browsing claim to have solved in this way. The solution, however, does not seem to work for everyone: some users, despite the DNS change, continue to have browsing problems, with general slowdowns and the inability to access some portals. It is likely, in cases like these, that the malfunction does not concern only DNS servers, but also other devices of the technological infrastructure.

The TIM technicians are already working to solve the problem and it is not excluded that already in the next few minutes we may have some more details on the possible resolution of the malfunction.
