Tim 5G: prices, rates and cities involved

After Vodafone, another major Italian phone operator is taking the plunge. Soon Tim users will be able to choose two different offers for 5G

After Vodafone, Tim is also preparing to bring its 5G connection to Italy. The operator has officially confirmed that soon its customers will be able to take advantage of the new connection standard to surf fast and stable from their smartphones (provided you have a 5G smartphone, of course).

Already for a few weeks there have been many rumors about prices and coverage of 5G Tim, but at least until official confirmation from the company can only be considered rumors. Specifically, the rumors concern the first cities where there will be the 5G signal Tim, the official launch date and the different rates designed for both new users who intend to experience the next-generation network, both for old customers. One thing is certain, consumers will be able to choose between two commercial offers: Tim Advance 5G and Tim Advance 5G Top.

Tim 5G: when will the service be activated?

By the end of June, Tim will announce details on 5G offers. Unfortunately, however, it is not clear when exactly the company’s customers will be able to take advantage of the fast network. Undoubtedly, Tim would like to present its offer as soon as possible, also because Vodafone has already made the service available from June 16 for all new and old customers. Although we don’t have official dates yet, many sources confirm that the activation will take place by July 1.

Tim 5G: which cities will be covered?

As has already happened for Vodafone, Tim will not initially be able to cover all of Italy. The 5G network will be tested initially in three Italian cities, namely Rome, Milan and Turin. By July 6, Verona, Matera, Bari, Florence, Naples and Bologna will also be added.

And here there is a further difference from Vodafone, which for the moment has chosen only Milan, Rome, Naples, Bologna and Turin and there will be no talk of any integration at least until 2020. In short, albeit late Tim would be able to offer coverage in four more cities than the British operator.

Tim 5G: prices and tariffs

Tim debuts on the market with two different commercial offers. The first is called Tim Advance 5G and includes 50GB in 5G, as well as unlimited minutes to mobile and fixed devices. This offer can be purchased for 29.99 euros per month.

The second offer is called Tim Advance 5G TOP with 100 GB in 5G, unlimited minutes for phone calls. This offer also includes the installment purchase of a 5G-compatible smartphone of your choice between Samsung Galaxy S10 5G, Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 and Oppo Reno 5G. Everything is proposed at 49.99 euros monthly.

Tim expects a connection speed of up to 2 Gbps, but this will have to be tested in the field. This information is not yet official, we need to wait for confirmations from the company to start evaluating a possible switch to the Tim 5G network.
