PlayStation Store will be renewed and from November 19 many titles will disappear from the platform: what changes and how you can buy videogames
PlayStation Store, the digital store dedicated to games for Sony consoles, is at the center of a renewal process that will end on November 19. However, it will not only bring news for gamers but also a nasty surprise: thousands of games will disappear from sale and will no longer be available for download.
From 19 November it will be possible to take a look at the web version of the new PlayStation e-shop while, for users of the mobile app, the date to mark on the calendar is 28 October. It is, however, from 19 of this month that will be permanently removed the games and DLC, or downloadable content, for portable consoles PSP and Vita, as well as those for the last two models of PS currently on the market, ie PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4. All this will happen just one month after another great and long-awaited news: the launch of the PlayStation 5, scheduled in Europe for November 19.
Games on PlayStation Store: what will happen?
But we need to do some clarity on what will happen on October 19. Games and add-ons for the aforementioned consoles, it’s true, will no longer be able to be purchased through PlayStation Store, but they won’t disappear completely from circulation. All of the titles on sale in the past, in fact, will be available for download directly from PS3 and PS4, as well as from PSP and Vita.
So the sales methods change, but players will not actually lose the ability to purchase old and new titles. If before, however, it was necessary to connect to the website or app, now everything can be done from your PlayStation 3, 4, Portable and Vita through an internet connection, process in any case already known to players.
As for the old purchases, however, does not change what happened in the past: players can still proceed with the download of content and then continue to play on their consoles. The method of access remains the same: simply login to the site with your PlayStation account and download them through the list of purchases already available in the user area.
PlayStation Store: what’s changing for PSP 4
PlayStation 4 will also suffer a small cut on content: with the renewal of the site, owners of the console will no longer be able to download avatars, apps and themes from both web and mobile stores. Again, this is just a logistical change for PlayStation: content will still be accessible from PlayStore on PSP4. Last but not least is the Wish List: it’s also time to say goodbye to the wish list, as it will be removed and the items saved in it deleted.
