The Samsung Galaxy A90 will have a self-adjusting camera

Samsung is preparing to launch a new mid-range smartphone, the Galaxy A90, featuring a unique photo compartment

Samsung’s new Galaxy A90 smartphone could bring to the Korean giant’s A range a great novelty in the photo compartment: a retractable, sliding and rotating camera with a motorized mechanism.

Such a camera could be used as both front and rear lens and would make revolutionary, compared to the current Samsung range and beyond, the design of this mid-range smartphone. In one fell swoop, in fact, you could eliminate both the holes and various notches for the front camera, and the space dedicated to the rear camera lenses. Everything would be encapsulated in a single retractable camera, which could be mechanically turned to one side or the other depending on the user’s needs.

How the Galaxy A90’s rotating retractable camera will look like

Onelaks, which is usually a very reliable source, describes this camera as a mix between the Oppo Find X’s camera and the Oppo N1’s camera. The former has a sliding camera that disappears when not in use, the latter has a rotating camera. For Samsung, however, such a camera would be a novelty but the company itself has stated in recent months that it wants to use the A range to introduce solutions never tried in the past.

The news of the pop up camera on the Galaxy A90 had already circulated at the beginning of February, but there was also no mention of a rotating camera. It should be noted that the choice of a pop-up camera would allow Samsung to do without notch and holes on the Galaxy A90, so this smartphone could be truly “all-screen”.

Samsung Galaxy A90: technical specifications

The Galaxy A90 will be the flagship sartphone of Samsung’s mid-range and will soon be added to the already presented, at the Mobile Wolrd Congress in Barcelona ended yesterday, A30 and A50. It will be a device with more than good performance thanks to the Exynos processor flanked by 6 or 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. At the moment we are talking about a 6-inch or more screen (the A30 and A50 both have a 6.4-inch screen), in 19:9 aspect ratio and with FullHD+ resolution (2340×1080 pixels). We expect a battery of at least 4,000 mAh, like that of the two younger siblings.

The hypothesis of the rotating retractable camera, however, makes it more difficult to speculate on the resolution and technical characteristics of the entire photo compartment. The A50 mounts a completely different, and much more classic, solution: one 25MP front camera and three rear cameras of 25MP, 5MP and 8MP. With the last two intended for depth and ultra-wide photos. The fact that the A90’s camera can rotate could also mean that at least one of the three rear cameras could be eliminated, most likely the main one. Keep in mind, however, that these rumors, although coming from a good source, have yet to be confirmed.
