The PlayStation 5 still hides many secrets, despite being officially presented in June. The design of the new Sony console has immediately captured the attention of users: a style and lines very different from previous models and different especially from direct competitors (read Xbox Series X). The peculiarities of the PlayStation 5, however, may not be finished here.
In recent hours have appeared on the Web images of a factory in China where they are producing some components of the new console. In particular, we are talking about the white side covers, one of the elements that has most discussed by fans in recent weeks. From these images two details emerge: the first is that the PlayStation 5 will be really big as expected and the second is that the side panels are connected to the console with an interlocking system. This suggests that users will be able to change them in a matter of seconds, perhaps with covers of another color or customized. If this were the case, Sony would have hit the jackpot once again: each user could have a PlayStation 5 completely different from all the others.

A modular PlayStation 5 would be another point in favor of the Sony console against the Xbox Series X. In this new “console war” in which Microsoft is proving to have all the cards in order to fight on equal terms (more power, many interesting games and exclusive), Sony seems to want to play the card of modularity and customization.
It is not the first time that in the world of technology we talk about modular devices, which allow users to easily change the internal components to build their own device of dreams. These projects, however, have almost all failed. What Sony wants to do with the PS5, however, is slightly different: the only thing that can be changed are the side covers. Already in previous weeks there had been talk of the possibility of Sony launching a PS5 with red bulkheads and this latest news only confirms the rumors. But that’s not all.
