According to some rumors coming from Japan, the next iPhones will support Bluetooth dual audio, a feature already available on Samsung Huawei smartphones
For once, Apple might not be ahead of the curve and “copy” a feature from its competitors in order to offer its customers a smartphone with a simple, but very useful and welcome feature. The smartphones in question are the future iPhone 11 (or XI, if you prefer) and the competitors are Samsung and Huawei.
The feature, however, is the ability to simultaneously pair two Bluetooth audio playback devices to the same iPhone. To play the same music, basically, on two devices connected via radio. Technically it is not a difficult thing at all, but at the time Apple had not yet thought about it. But now yes, at least following the latest rumor published by the well-known Japanese analyst / leaker MacOtakara. The Bluetooth Dual Audio, therefore, would be coming on the next devices of the bitten apple, perhaps on the whole range, perhaps only on the flagship devices.
How Bluetooth Dual Audio works
The playback of the same audio stream on two different spearkers or headphones is not at all new: Samsung already offers it from the Galaxy S8 and S8+, equipped with Bluetooth 5.0 connection. It could be useful, for example, to listen to the same music in the living room and the kitchen, using two different speakers to maintain a constant volume in the two rooms. Or even connect your car’s entertainment system and Bluetooth headphones at the same time. Or use two pairs of headphones to share the same music without disturbing anyone. All Bluetooth 5.0-compatible speakers and headphones can be operated in pairs without a problem: the difference is the smartphone, that is, the source from which the audio streaming starts.
When will Bluetooth Dual Audio arrive on iPhone
MacOtakara says that, according to its sources inside Apple’s supply chain, the Cupertino-based company will enable dual audio via Bluetooth as early as iPhones 2019. However, it is not yet known whether it will be enabled on the entire iPhone XI range or only on the flagship models. However, since the only real technical requirement is a Bluetooth 5.0 chip, in theory all future iPhones could have Bluetooth Dual Audio. Finally, remember that iPhones already support multiple connections via Bluetooth: to a single iPhone, for example, you can already connect an Apple Watch and AirPods.
