In China, they made an iPhone X Mini: it was created with components from the iPhone 5 and has a borderless screen, but it lacks cameras and wireless charging
If the new iPhone X doesn’t convince you, you could always think about buying a handmade iPhone X Mini. No, it’s not a joke. But the painstaking work of a Chinese tech enthusiast. The smartphone is very small but like its nobler sibling it has a borderless screen.
Sure for Apple this iPhone X Mini handmade in China is little more than a Frankenstein compared to the top of the line model of 2017. But the little phone is an engineering marvel. A little less so on the features level. Indeed, we find the processor of an iPhone 5 on board. It’s certainly not throw away but it is not one of the best choices we can find on the market. Even at the aesthetic level this iPhone Mini reminds a bit Frankenstein. As mentioned the screen is borderless but the cover, which has a showy and thick step towards the display is made of transparent plastic. For this reason in the back of the phone we have both the battery and the sensors in plain sight.
iPhone X Mini
Obviously being handmade it lacks in some components. And indeed this iPhone X Mini has neither camera nor fingerprint reader. Forget about facial recognition or wireless charging. But it has a home button that allows you to perform more actions than the classic button on older iPhones. In fact, it is clickable and can be used to perform shortcuts in applications. In addition to some components of the iPhone 5 this X Mini was made with a connector and speakers that are not original. Who knows how Apple will respond to this handmade iPhone. It is unlikely that Cupertino will repeat the famous line from the movie Frankenstein Junior: “It can be done”.
