The Dali gang has accustomed us to twists and unpredictable situations: let’s find out together which were the most complex to shoot
Volume I of the last season of the house of paper, with the first five episodes, will finally be available for all fans on the Netflix platform from September 3. The anticipation is growing. In the meantime, let’s find out together what were the most complex scenes that the cast had to shoot in these seasons.
The House of Paper, as many will remember, was one of those series at risk of cancellation, saved by the call of Netflix. Just released in Spain, it did not have a great following from the public. Once included in the catalog of Netflix, the success became planetary and the gang with the masked face of Dali, had higher budgets to invest in production, location and cachet of the actors. There are several scenes and locations where amazing filming took place. While we wait for Tokyo and company to land and tell us what will happen after the 100 hours inside the Bank of Spain, let’s see what have been the most difficult scenes to shoot in the house of paper over the years.
The most difficult scene in the house of paper
In the third season of the house of paper, there is a scene in which the Professor tells the group that they are entering international waters: they are in the North Atlantic Ocean. The Professor’s announcement causes the entire gang to breathe a sigh of relief that they have managed to escape. This is what we see, a shivering and cold band. What happened in reality is different.
The location chosen to shoot this scene was a boat, but in the sea of Thailand in Phuket. The climate is so harsh and cold it was 40 degrees under a scorching sun and high humidity.
In the documentary about the house of paper, available on Netflix, “behind the scenes” you can see how the platform’s most beloved criminals gasp. The Professor, who obviously can’t look sweaty, is waved away by three people and the tough Helsinki appears to sway dangerously as Rio is literally slumped over a crate. Faces are exhausted and as if the suffocating humidity and degrees weren’t enough, the clothes worn worsen the conditions of the shoot.
More challenging scenes from the house of paper
Reading in the humid heat of Thailand wasn’t the only difficult part of the shoot. In these years of the house of paper, scenes that were seemingly easy to develop became complex and challenging for the production itself!
Remember when from an airship, above the skies of Madrid, the Professor announces the distribution of millions of banknotes falling from the sky? This was one of the most problematic scenes. The weather was constantly changing, sunny, rainy and windy. Especially the latter condition made it necessary to turn over and over again to get the money going in the right direction.
Remember when Denver had to dive into the Bank of Spain’s vault full of water? The scenic bricks used for the gold not only kept floating, but all the equipment ended up rusting. The scene was shot with great effort and creativity.
