The best smartphones by battery life

Battery life is one of the most important features in a smartphone: here are the best smartphones of 2019

Battery life is now an increasingly important parameter in the choice of smartphone. Manufacturers offer more and more powerful models, with more and more RAM and internal memory and, above all, with large, very bright screens. All this consumes a lot of energy.

To make a difference in the duration of a smartphone battery charge, however, is not only the capacity of the accumulator. Certainly a 4,000+ mAh battery lasts longer than a 3,000 mAh one, but for the same capacity a lot is also made by software optimization, which turns on and off the various components of the smartphone and makes them run at full power or reduced power based on actual usage. Today, all 2019 smartphones of medium and high end arrive quite safely turned on at the end of the day, at least if we use them moderately.

But what happens in case of heavy use? He wondered the American magazine CNET, which has put the best smartphones 2019 under the microscope and selected the best 6 for battery life. Here they are.

Apple iPhone XR

The “cheap” 2018 iPhone is universally recognized as a very good product, despite the compromises made by Apple to sell it at a price accessible (almost) to most. It has a battery of only 2,942 mAh, but it held up to CNET’s tests for 19 hours and 53 minutes, a sign of very good software optimization on Apple’s part.

Samsung S10 Plus

Samsung’s current top of the line has a 4100 mAh battery, which allowed it to stay on for 21 hours despite the large and very bright AMOLED screen. The regular Samsung S10, with a 3,400 mAh battery, also performed well: 18 hours before shutting down.

Motorola Moto G7 Power

The Motorola Moto G7 Power is the phone with the longest battery life in CNET’s entire 2019 smartphone comparison: a whopping 23 hours and 10 minutes. Everyone knows the secret: a huge 5,000 mAh battery, the highest capacity among all the tested models.

Huawei P30 Pro

Not bad autonomy too for Huawei’s flagship, the P30 Pro, which with 4,200 mAh battery stays on for 22 hours and 57 minutes despite the 6.47-inch OLED screen and top-of-the-line hardware. Even the younger brother P30 doesn’t mess around: 21 hours and 31 minutes, with its 3,650 mAh battery.

Samsung Galaxy Note 9

Waiting for the Samsung Galaxy Note 10, due out on August 7, the Note 9 still remains a great smartphone even when it comes to battery life: 19 hours and 20 minutes are not a few at all for a device with a 6.4-inch AMOLED display, 512 GB of storage and 8 GB of RAM. Not to mention Samsung’s eight-core Exynos 9810 SoC, which is powerful but not the latest.

LG V50 ThinQ

LG’s V50 ThinQ has a good 4,000 mAh battery, but the 6.4-inch OLED screen, Snapdragon 855, 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage consume quite a bit. It stopped at 17 hours and 49 minutes, but liked it for the 5 cameras and especially the 5G connectivity.
