Telegram not working, March 29: what’s happening

The messaging app is not working across Europe and much of the Middle East. The problems stem from a lack of power to the app’s servers

Telegram has been down since 10:30 a.m. on March 29, not allowing users to receive and send messages. This is already the second time this month that the instant messaging app has stopped working across Europe, creating serious problems for users who use the platform daily.

Recently Telegram announced that it has surpassed 200 million monthly active users, but at the same time the app’s stability problems have also grown. Reporting the operating problems was the Russian company itself, which announced on its Twitter account that the application is down across Europe and the Middle East.

The company is doing everything to get Telegram back online, but everything depends on the datacenter provider.

#telegramdown on Twitter

The hashtag #telegramdown immediately went viral on Twitter with hundreds of Italian users reporting the problem.

The alternatives to Telegram

If Telegram doesn’t work, there is certainly no shortage of alternatives. The first is certainly WhatsApp, the most used messaging application in the world and now present on most smartphones. Another viable alternative is Facebook Messenger, a messaging service that can be used directly from Facebook. But both do not have a feature that has made the fortune of Telegram: the ability to create channels that allow you to stay informed about what is happening in the world.
