Telegram arrives at version 6.3 and the update brings important news for videos, photos and group chats. Here’s all the news
Mounted news for videos and photos in the new version 6.3 of Telegram chat. The update will allow you to use a video as an interactive profile picture in the chat and brings the “Skin Softness” filter for photos taken and sent to chat from the smartphone’s front camera.
With version 6.3 Telegram also improves the Near People feature, which allows you to see how far away the person we start a chat with is. Also arrive new stickers and especially new thumbnails in the chat list, which allow you to understand if the incoming photo is for example a meme or a selfie. If you receive too many messages, there is now a feature that allows you to mute those from “non-contacts”: people who write to you and are not in your contact list will be automatically filtered, archived and silenced.
Telegram, profile video and “skin softness” filter
For video and photos, the new features are mainly the ability to use a video on your profile and the ability to edit the photos you take by inserting a “skin softness” filter. In your profile picture you will then be able to upload the usual photo or a video, of which you can select the playback length.
The video will thus start in a loop when you look at your picture, showing only the selected frames. Besides, you’ll be able to decorate them with animated stickers and quickly change the image by tapping “Set as main” a previous photo or video. On the other hand, as for the photos and videos you take from the front camera, now among the image editing options comes a new tool from Telegram: the “skin softness” filter to give you a fabulous look.
Telegram, chat with people nearby and use the new emoji
There’s a reason Telegram decided to include profile videos as well and it explains it on its site where it tells about the update: it wants to make it easier for People nearby to meet. The feature of the popular chat that allows you to write messages to someone in your vicinity, even if you don’t know them, now becomes more accurate and also adds the distance meters the person is from you.
Also, it suggests stickers and greeting options to break the ice. To meet new people simply go to “Contacts”, then “People nearby” and finally select “Make me visible” and see who is available to chat. Even for emoji there are news: new and interactive ones arrive to use as and when you want.
Telegram, thumbnails and “non-contacts” silenced
You’ve received a notification and want to know if the photo is yet another meme, or an image you’ve been waiting for. To answer this doubt, Telegram has included a new feature: thumbnails in the chat list. These new thumbnails appear between notifications and in the message search results, complementing the feature that allows you to preview messages without opening the chat: you’ll just need to hold down on the contact’s profile photo to see the contents of the notification.
If receiving notifications and messages from those who aren’t in your contact list bothers you, the new version of Telegram has found a solution. By going to “Settings,” then “Privacy and Security,” you’ll be able to mute new chats from “non-contacts,” and to access them, all you have to do is select the Archive folder with a tap and bring them back to the main list of incoming messages.
Telegram, group statistics and file sharing
If you manage a Telegram group with more than 500 members, there are some very useful new features coming. The latest version offers detailed statistics and charts on group activity and growth, showing the list of top members by number of messages and average message characters. Good news for file sharing, too: starting in 2015, users could share files as large as 1.5 GB, while with the new update it will be possible to send an unlimited number of media and files of any of yours, from the size up to 2 GB each.
Telegram, what’s new for Android and Desktop
As for Android devices, Telegram redesigns the music player graphics with simplified icons and expandable track list. Also, the message writing bar increases smoothly when typing on the keyboard. Finally, a built-in video editor lets you crop and rotate videos. On the other hand, if you use Telegram Desktop, the news is that you will be able to stay connected to 3 accounts with different phone numbers without having to disconnect.
