After the success on iOS, Nintendo is about to bring the adventures of Super Mario also on the Google Play Store. The wait, however, plays tricks: many users infected by malware
It is to all intents and purposes the mobile video game of records. In just one week it has managed to collect more than 50 million downloads, recording staggering revenues for Nintendo. This is one of the reasons why the Japanese company’s announcement of the upcoming launch of Super Mario Run on Android has raised expectations to stellar levels.
And if Nintendo is already rubbing its hands together in the hope that its videogame can repeat the exploit of the App Store, many Android users are licking their wounds. As experience teaches us, in fact, impatience is a bad counselor and more than a few ended up downloading unofficial versions of the game. The end result is rather bleak: thousands of malware-infected green robot devices and owners forced to reset their phones in the hope of erasing all traces of the Android virus. The danger, in fact, is that some malicious person might take control of the smartphone and steal all the information it contains.
Super Mario Run, don’t download apps outside the Google Play Store
In order to install unofficial versions of Super Mario Run, in fact, users are forced to change the security settings of the smartphone, granting the counterfeit apps administrator privileges. This allows hackers and digital criminals to take control of the device: exploiting security holes and other security bugs, they can read, write and delete messages, access the photo gallery, take photos or videos without our knowledge and track us using GPS signals.
