Spotify introduces new Connect with Friends feature to share music in your contacts’ playlists. Find out what it’s all about!
With the market becoming increasingly crowded and competitive, the various streaming music service providers need to be able to constantly and quickly improve and enrich the user experience. It should come as no surprise, then, if in recent weeks Spotify has been releasing new features (some in the testing phase) for its app.
In the last few days, for example, the Sleep Timer feature, which stops playback after a set interval of time, has been “uncovered.” And while this new tool has yet to be officially released, Spotify has announced that it will allow you to share and create playlists with your friends. The feature will be called Connect with Friends and will allow people to take control of a device and participate in the transmission of music.
Connect with friends: all about Spotify’s new feature
Connect with friends, the name of the new feature is simple and evocative. The news was given by engineer Jane Manchun Wong, who often enjoys accessing app codes to discover and share hidden features via Twitter. The feature will appear in the app’s interface, in the section dedicated to “Spotify Connections” (Spotify Connect).
Inside this space will be devices that use the streaming app present on the same network, which you can connect to in order to interact with playlists. Wong showed a screenshot of the section, where a kind of visual code in the shape of a sound wave, called funky soundwave, also appears.
This feature is very useful because it allows a group of users to create collaborative playlists, within which each of the invitees can make their own contribution. It is suitable within an office or a venue where everyone can DJ in a fun and interactive way. In addition to the Connect with friends feature, the music app has other new features in mind coming soon.
Spotify: 2 more new features coming soon
In the Android version of the app, Wong found the feature called Sleep Timer, which stops music playback after a time set by the user. This feature is designed for those who like to fall asleep lulled by their favorite songs. The other news is that the app will soon add support for Google Maps. You will be able to view and control the music played within the navigator, without switching between apps.
