Sony Xperia Pro-I, as announced, has arrived in Europe: here is a summary of its features and especially price and availability
Sony Xperia Pro-I is a dream smartphone for photography lovers, and now it has finally arrived in Europe. Presented at the end of October, the Japanese product encompasses the best that Sony can offer today in terms of photographic capabilities, and for this reason it also has a very high price.
The camera that Asian designers have placed on Sony Xperia Pro-I is incredible: in fact it was made a “transplant” of the sensor that is equipped with the Sony RX100 VII, the compact camera par excellence in the list of Sony. So Xperia Pro-I is the first Android smartphone in the world to be able to boast a one-inch sensor, moreover enhanced by Zeiss optics that in terms of quality of the lenses is second to none, and the variable aperture – f/2.0 or f/4.0 – which allows you to get the best compromise between definition and amount of light reaching the sensor.
Sony Xperia Pro-I what it looks like
Next to the colossal main sensor there are two others with the same resolution of 12 megapixels, an ultra wide angle and a telephoto lens with 2x zoom. Videos can be recorded at 4K resolution up to 120 frames per second. We know, however, that technical quality does not necessarily translate into high image quality if the software is not top-notch.
So Sony Xperia Pro-I can rely on an interface further enriched with adjustments and settings than the previous model and is capable of shooting in RAW, as well as a number of tricks that make it the ideal product for those who need to shoot high-level mobile.
Sony Xperia Pro-I in fact has a physical shutter button, a hole for straps (wrist or neck) and especially an accessory dedicated to those who shoot a lot of video on the go. It is a 3.5-inch monitor in 720p that allows you to connect a handle and a microphone through the 3.5 audio jack, so that the smartphone becomes in a moment a “real” camera through which to shoot and film. However, the smartphone integrates a dedicated high-profile microphone.
On the technical side, Sony Xperia Pro-I can only be a high-end smartphone. There’s Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 chip, 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of expandable storage, a 6.5-inch 120 Hz HDR OLED screen with Ultra HD 4K resolution (like TVs), certification against water and dust, a 4,500 mAh battery with 30-watt fast charging and wireless.
Sony Xperia Pro-I, price and availability
At the time of launch Sony had announced that the Xperia Pro-I would be available in Europe starting in December, and so it was. The Japanese cameraphone is already present on Amazon in the countries where it will be distributed first: in France and the UK with availability from December 2, in Germany from 7.
The list price is chilling, but for a similar product could not be otherwise: 1,799 euros, while the accessory monitor costs 199 euros. In all likelihood it will come to Italy, but we have no information yet.
