According to a study, technological transformation would have benefits in sales, employee productivity and customer relations
A company’s success is also measured by its ability to embrace the possibilities that technology makes available. This is especially true for small and medium-sized businesses, where one in five gains immediate benefits as they embark on digital transformation.
This is the finding of a worldwide study conducted by research firm IDC and sponsored by SAP, a company specializing in IT solutions for businesses. According to the survey, companies are seeing benefits in sales, employee productivity, access to information and customer relations. Despite the benefits, there are still few SMEs that have undertaken advanced digitization. The survey found that only 7 percent of small and medium-sized businesses have gone beyond the initial digitization step.
Technology on the side of SMBs
“This study shows that smaller companies are being proactive and strategic in the way they invest in digital technologies,” said Barry Padgett, president of SAP’s SMB team. The survey, which involved small and medium-sized businesses in 13 countries, shows that there is a direct relationship between a company’s development and its level of digital transformation. The analysis confirmed that about 44% of SMEs from decided to invest in technology to improve business processes. The larger the enterprise, the more conducive it is to the digital economy.
