After a couple of months of use every Android smartphone starts to experience slowdowns and drops in performance, here’s how to prevent this from happening
After a while of using the same smartphone it is normal to start noticing some drops in performance on our Android device. In particular, after installing several applications and taking lots of pictures, you start to notice some slowdowns. What is the cause of these issues and how can they be solved?
Performance drops do not depend solely on the brand or price range of the phone. Almost every smartphone after a while tends not to work as efficiently as in the early days. Of course it’s more likely that an entry-level will have more noticeable drops in performance than a top-of-the-line, but often users are also to blame for slowdowns. Often it’s enough to delete files from the memory to give back “sprint” to the smartphone. But in some cases, especially if we have the phone for several years, this solution may not be enough. Here’s what to do when your Android smartphone is slow.
Clean Applications
Often and often your Android smartphone is slow because of the various applications we are using on the device. To improve the phone’s performance in the short term, we press the multitasking button and clean up the active apps. This way if we launch a new app it should work better. This is a useful technique especially for those who have a device with little RAM.
Restart
Turning off and on is an old technique, almost always used by those who don’t have much knowledge, but often effective. If we notice problems on an application, or on several programs, there might be temporary bugs. To fix them we can restart the device.
Internet Speed
often the fault of the poor performance of the smartphone is the Internet connection. If your home Wi-Fi is working poorly, in fact, the applications in use on your phone will also be slow.
Disable Widgets
Widgets, or programs that run on the screen, such as the weather app and so on, are nice and handy tools for personalizing your device. At the same time, these programs consume battery power and slow down device performance. On our Android smartphones, especially if they are old or have very basic technical features, we always deactivate widgets.
Updates
Unusually, updating your mobile operating system is always a recommended choice. But it’s normal that each new version is designed for more and more performing phones. That’s why if we have an outdated device and the manufacturer releases the operating system update we should not install it blindfolded. Our smartphone might not be performing enough for the new version. And that would only cause more slowdowns and bugs.
Application Cache
Generally, the information saved by cached apps can improve the opening speed of various apps. But in the long run, the cache might get saturated and start slowing down the device. To clear the cache we need to go to Settings and then click on the Memory and Storage section. At this point in the list of apps we can clear the cache of all of them or do it manually.
