Sky Wifi exceeds 140 cities and Sky’s Triple Play is now available to everyone

PROMO

Sky Wifi is Sky’s new fiber offer: high-speed internet. From August 25, even those who have not yet subscribed to pay TV can choose Sky’s Triple Play.

Launched on June 16 in 26 Italian cities, Sky’s new fiber optic connection service called Sky Wifi has already reached over 140 cities and is also growing the audience that can choose the service: Sky’s Triple Play is in fact now open to those who are not yet subscribers. Sky Wifi is based on a network infrastructure built from scratch by Sky and, for the last mile, on the high-speed network provided by Open Fiber.

Sky has chosen Jude Law, the actor twice nominated for an Oscar, as testimonial of the advertising campaign for the launch of Sky Wifi. The commercial is based on the three key words that characterize the service: simple, powerful and spectacular. Sky Wifi, in fact, was created to allow all members of the family to make the best use of the network, ensuring that all devices work simultaneously, without problems, even at peak times, with all the bandwidth needed to download content in high resolution, see them in streaming without interruption or play online.

Sky Wifi: how it works

Sky, to achieve this result, has built a last generation infrastructure entirely in fiber and provides customers with an intelligent router (the Sky Wifi Hub), which processes in real time the data it receives from the environment and from connected devices and sends in this way the best signal to each connected device.

The router is optimized for streaming and to offer maximum coverage even in very large homes with multiple floors thanks to the so-called “Sky Wifi Pods”, optional Wi-Fi devices that create a mesh network capable of carrying the signal of the Sky WiFi Hub throughout the house, limiting interference and overcoming any obstacles.

Sky Wifi: why it’s simple

Simplicity is also guaranteed by the app for managing the connection and the Sky Wifi Pods. The app allows you to create a profile for each person in the family, pause the wifi or schedule the shutdown time of devices associated with a profile, but also activate Parental Control.

The installation of Sky Wifi Pods is also very simple: it is done through the Sky Wifi app on a smartphone with a Bluetooth connection. In fact, Sky Wifi Pods are “plug&play” and configure themselves: just plug them into a normal power outlet and they identify the router by themselves, selecting the best channel and Wifi frequency at all times. Sky, in any case, provides clear guidelines on where to place the Pods to optimize performance and coverage of the mesh network.

Sky Wifi: coverage

Sky Wifi has already reached over 140 cities and large towns in Italy, compared to 26 at launch. The coverage of Sky Wifi will grow in step with the work that Open Fiber is doing throughout Italy to wire most of the municipalities.

Sky Wifi: how much it costs

The 100% fiber subscription called Smart starts at 29.90 euros per month (but Sky offers up to 6 months, depending on the time spent together) and includes the Sky Wifi Hub router. Calls are pay-as-you-go. Activating online includes activation costs.

The Ultra subscription is dedicated to those who have a very large house and includes the Sky Wifi Hub with Ultra Wifi and two Sky Wifi Pods. It costs 32.90 euros per month (again with up to 6 months included) and, at this launch stage, has an activation fee of 50 euros (if activation is online). Calls are pay-as-you-go.

The most comprehensive Sky Wifi subscription is the Ultra Plus, technically identical to the Ultra but with unlimited national calls to landlines and mobiles. It costs 37.90 euros per month, but the first 6 months are offered by Sky. Activation of the Fibra100% connection is included if the user does it online and there is only the activation cost for Ultra Wifi (equal to 50 euros, if done online).

All three subscriptions do not provide contractual constraint, but only a one-time deactivation cost of 29.90 euros (11.53 in case of migration to another operator).

Finally, those who are not yet subscribed to Sky can now activate the triple play offer to get Sky’s fiber, Sky Q decoder and Sky content in a single solution: the triple play offer – TV, internet and voice – provides a monthly cost of 39.90 euros per month for the first 36 months, the first of which costs only 10 euros, and no activation fee. The offer includes a Sky Wifi Smart subscription and Sky TV subscription content in HD.
