Those who have problems with Internet connection and can not see the Serie A matches on DAZN streaming have a “backup solution”: watch DAZN on digital terrestrial. Here’s how it works and how much it costs.
In March 2021 DAZN was awarded the TV rights for the Italian soccer league Serie A for the three-year period 2021/24: it broadcasts 10 matches per day, 7 of which are exclusive. It broadcasts them, as it is known, in streaming through its app for smartphones, Smart TVs, Android TV boxes, consoles, Amazon Fire Tv Stick, Apple Tv and Tim Box.
To see DAZN streaming you need a good Internet connection: the company recommends a speed of at least 8 Mbps to get a high video quality and a high frame rate, while 6 Mbps are the minimum to have HD on Smart TV. This speed must be stable for the duration of the match, otherwise there will be blocks in the transmission or collapses in video quality. For this reason DAZN has provided a “backup solution” for all subscribers who do not live in an area with an Internet network of sufficient quality to get a good service: it is the DAZN TV Box for digital terrestrial.
DAZN TV Box: what is it and how it works
The DAZN TV Box is, in essence, a TV box with Android TV operating system. It is produced by Digiquest and is one of only two possible ways to watch DAZN on digital terrestrial. The signal, transmitted on channel 409, is in fact encrypted and you need a specific hardware to decrypt it.
For the rest, however, the DAZN TV Box is an Android box to all intents and purposes: in addition to the DAZN app, pre-installed, we can download and use all the apps on the Google Play Store.
DAZN TV Box: who can buy it
The DAZN TV Box is not for everyone and not everyone can buy it: it is reserved for those who live in an area of Italy with a low connection speed. For this, directly on the Digiquest website, the user is asked to enter his address to check if he can buy the device.
If he is, then he will have to pay 139.99 euros to buy it, in addition to the monthly cost of the subscription to DAZN.
The DAZN TV Box, therefore, is not intended for those who have been “impacted” by the technical problems of DAZN during the first five days of the championship: for them, however, DAZN has provided a free month as compensation.
DAZN on digital terrestrial: what you see
It should be specified, finally, that DAZN has only one channel on Digital Terrestrial: the 409. It can then broadcast on digital terrestrial only one game at a time and on days like Sunday at 15, when there are three games at the same time, it is DAZN to decide which to broadcast on channel 409.
DAZN on digital terrestrial: the alternative TIMVision Box
Finally, to see DAZN on digital terrestrial there is a second way: with the TIMVision Box decoder that is provided by TIM within specific monthly subscription packages starting from 9.99 euros per month, excluding subscription to DAZN.
Also in the case of the TIMVision Box, however, the same limits seen for the DAZN TV Box apply and you can only watch one match per time slot, at the choice of DAZN, on channel 409.
