While the United Kingdom and the United States put restrictions on the use of smartphones and tablets on the plane, in Italy nothing will change, at least for the moment
The terrorism alert is very high all over the world and the attack on the heart of London has only raised the level of guard. In addition to the Muslim Ban 2 issued by Trump, the United States and the United Kingdom have blocked, for the moment, the possibility, for planes coming from some Arab countries, to embark computers and tablets on board the plane: they can only be put in the hold.
Following the decision of the USA and England, Italy has also convened the Interministerial Committee for the safety of air transport and airports (Cisa), chaired by Enac, to understand the situation and choose the measures to be taken in the near future. The situation is quite complicated and the terrorism alert very high, but the Interministerial Committee has decided for the moment not to raise the security level and only to monitor the situation.
A choice shared with other EU countries
The decision taken by Italy is in line with those of other EU countries that have not yet decided to raise the security level. At the conclusion of the meeting, no alarms emerged that would make it necessary to further raise the security measures already in place for air transport, nor the introduction of new restrictions to block the introduction on board of computers and tablets by passengers such as those imposed by the United States and Great Britain. The situation will be monitored constantly to intervene in case of alarm.
