Scribbler, the 3D printer-pen with dual tip

Until now, the big problem with 3D printing pens was the difficulty of use, Scribbler has come up with a method to simplify users’ creations

Can we write and make drawings with a 3D printing pen? The answer is yes, and the pen in question was made by Scribbler. To tell the truth, this is not an absolute novelty, other manufacturers have already tried to make similar tools, but Scribbler is much easier to use.

According to the developers of the 3D pen, the real problem encountered by similar devices was the difficulty of use, especially for users without great knowledge of drawing techniques. The Scribbler company is expected to remedy the problem by simplifying drawing with the use of two print heads. Instead of the single head present in other 3D pens launched so far on the market. Not surprisingly, the pen was called Duo. The start-up, based in Ohio in the United States, at the time launched the 3D pen using a campaign on the famous crowdfunding site Kickstarter.

How it works

Like other pens with 3D printing, Duo uses heating and melting of plant materials so that everything we create is biodegradable. The pen has a machine at its top, very small that doesn’t disturb the user, which is used to superheat the materials. Materials that cool almost instantly once they leave the nozzles, giving solidity to the designs created. So far, 3D pens of this kind have been used mostly by artists and creatives, but also by Google developers to design the famous Doodles. The Duo pen works very fast and the stroke is instantaneous and reflects the movement of our hand. In addition, the two nozzles can print in two different colors to make our projects even more beautiful. Each nozzle has a thickness of 1.75 millimeters and for retouching or precision work you can decide to print with a single head. Choosing how many heads to print with is very easy, two LED lights remind us which nozzles are in use and just click on them to turn on or off the head. The DUO pen will cost about 120 euros but at the moment you can book it for just over 50 euros on Kickstarter. Shipments are expected to start in August.
