Samsung will show the future of smartwatches on June 28

At Mobile World Congress 2021 in Barcelona, Samsung will hold a streaming event: the focus will be on smartwatches and the relationship with Google

Appointment on June 28 at 7:15 pm to discover “the future of smartwatches” according to Samsung. To announce it is the same company of Seoul, which will hold a Samsung Galaxy session at the Mobile World Congress 2021 in Barcelona, postponed from February to the last week of June. A virtual session, of course, due to regulations to curb the Covid-19 pandemic.

Worse for some, better for others. For those who, for example, would have seen the event from Italy anyway, who will be able to stream Samsung’s presentation remotely on the company’s YouTube channel or through the official portal of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The fact remains that the announcement of Seoul is quite vague on the contents that will come out of the virtual event: almost certainly should be presented Wear OS 3.0 and maybe you will also see the new Samsung Galaxy Watch 4. On the presence of the latter there is a lot of skepticism, if only for the lack of rumors that otherwise in recent weeks would have tried to anticipate the next flagship smartwatch of the Asian multinational. We should see it in August along with the two foldable Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3.

Samsung will talk about the collaboration with Google

But there is always the remote possibility – or maybe the hope – that Samsung can surprise with a surprise presentation. There’s little doubt instead that Wear OS 3.0 will be the subject of Samsung’s session: Google has already unveiled a lot at Google I/O last month, but the fact that the two companies have collaborated on the development of the operating system for smartwatches, especially for the features regarding health monitoring, suggests that Samsung can talk about it from its own point of view.

Wear OS 3.0, also or especially as a result of the collaboration between Google and Samsung, will bring the biggest innovations on the health monitoring front since its debut to date, and on this topic Google’s mouths have remained almost sealed. It is therefore expected that the topic may be addressed by Samsung, which matches the title used by the company to present the June 28 event, “the future of smartwatches”.

Possible news on IoT

Whatever will come out of the Galaxy session at MWC 2021, and there is a possibility that it will also talk about IoT devices for the home, it is almost certain that at least a small portion of the space reserved for Samsung will focus on the fruits of the collaboration with Google.

Samsung, which declined an invitation to physically attend the show, added that it will share the latest enhancements on “security innovations designed to offer users protection and peace of mind in an increasingly open and connected world.” Samsung’s event will also be available on Samsung Newsroom.
