Samsung Chromebook Go: specs of new laptop

Samsung curiously makes official a new budget laptop, Chromebook Go. Pending availability and pricing, here are the technical specs.

It’s official without being official. It is the slip of Samsung, which has published on its portal the technical specifications of the new Chromebook Go, a laptop that has not yet been officially presented. And perhaps, at this point, Samsung Chromebook Go will never come to light by a real event as happened instead for the Samsung GalaxyBook and GalaxyBook Go.

The story could therefore close like this, with a list of technical specifications uploaded on the portal and still visible at the time of writing – usually, after the error, the page is promptly removed – and an official communication about prices and availability on the markets. Beyond the curiosity that has affected the launch of Samsung Chromebook Go, the new Korean laptop is extremely cheap with a polycarbonate shell, evidently chosen to keep costs as low as possible, white color, although Samsung calls it silver. The internal section instead is totally black, keyboard included. No lines or colors that will go down in history, but the goal of a product like Samsung Chromebook Go is certainly not this, so it can also be fine.

Samsung Chromebook Go, technical specifications

Samsung Chromebook Go arrives with a 14-inch TFT display with a resolution of 1.366 x 768 pixels, the latest Intel Celeron N4500 Jasper Lake chip made at 10 nanometers with 4 MB of L3 cache, maximum frequency of 2.8 GHz and a TDP of 6 watts that should ensure satisfactory battery life, while the accompanying GPU is an Intel UHD Graphics with 350 MHz base frequency.

Not extra large, as per tradition for Chromebooks, the memory of Samsung Chromebook Go: the company offers two sizes of RAM memory type LPDDR4X, 4 or 8 GB, and 32, 64 or 128 GB of storage space type eMMC, fortunately expandable via the integrated microSD slot for those who had greater needs in terms of space. There’s also the nano SIM slot on the LTE variant of the Chromebook Go, as well as two USB-C inputs, a USB 3.2, stereo speakers of 1.5 watts each and a combined headphone and microphone jack input.

On the connectivity front Samsung’s Chromebook Go offers Wi-Fi 6 ax, Bluetooth 5.1 and a webcam with HD resolution (720p), while the battery is 42.3 wattsora rechargeable through the 45-watt charger with USB-C included.

Samsung Chromebook Go, pricing and availability

As mentioned in the beginning, except for images and technical specifications no information has come from Samsung about the Chromebook Go. So, at the moment, we know nothing about prices and availability.

At a glance we can assume a starting point around 300-350 euros for Samsung Chromebook Go in basic configuration with 32 GB of internal memory, but we remain waiting for official indications.
