Sally, the robot-chef that prepares your salad in a minute

Robots are conquering kitchens, Sally for example, can create more than 1000 different salads and also works as a vending machine

From pizza to hamburgers, and now salads too. Kitchen robots are starting to specialize in more areas. And who knows, in the future we might not directly see chef-robots capable of creating multiple dishes. The latest arrival is Sally, the robot of Chowbotics, capable of making more than a thousand types of salad.

Chowbotics is a company specializing in the creation of robots, highly specialized, aimed for use within the kitchens of large restaurants or fast food chains. The company has recently invested over $5 million in this area. In their opinion, food preparation by machines allows for greater cleanliness, customizable dishes and decreased processing times. Chowbotics intends to soon bring its robot chefs to canteens, large hotels, airports, large stations and any restaurant that wants to try these new technologies.

How Sally Works

Sally specifically is a robot created to make more than 1000 salads. It has 20 containers where it can process a single item at a time or combine the various elements of the salad. Some restaurants and companies in California and Texas have already entered into agreements with Chowbotics to put Sally to the test in their kitchens. These are an Italian food restaurant, an organic grocery store and a co-working space. Sally however can work in two ways, either inside the kitchen, where a person will set the controls or as a vending machine. The robot in fact has a touchscreen where the customer can select the product and pay by credit card. In addition, Sally will inform customers of each ingredient, its allergens and especially the calories of the meal.
