The company iRobot, which specializes in smart home devices, has unveiled the new Roomba i7, the robot vacuum cleaner that changes bags on its own
The company iRobot has been producing smart home devices since 1990 focusing, in particular, on robot vacuum cleaners. Now the company is updating its Roomba series with the i7 model that recognizes when the dust bag is full and empties it on its own.
The Roomba series of smart vacuum cleaners has been around since 2002 and work like most home cleaning robots. The newer models are able to adjust to the size of our apartment, map the entire house so we don’t go through the same spot twice, and clean our floors while we relax. Until now, though, the hassle of emptying the tank or changing the bag remained – hosts still had to interact with their household robot once the floor cleaning was done. With the Roomba i7, we’ll basically forget about having a robot vacuum in the house because iRobot’s device will do everything on its own, even dispose of the old, used bag.
How does Roomba i7 work
How does Roomba i7 clean itself automatically? Simple, the smart vacuum’s charging station is built with a rear tank where for 30 days the Roomba i7 can empty its internal bag and continue to clean your home without a hitch. Once the big tank is full we would be alerted with a notification and the device will make a big trash bag with all the dust that we can throw in the bins. With Roomba i7 you can also tag individual rooms on the iRobot Home app, and then you can remotely control where exactly the vacuum is cleaning, and in case send it to clean another room. The smart home robot can also be managed with Google Home voice assistants.
The Roomba i7 has a built-in cleaning system for carpets and rugs as well. Shipments of the Roomba i7 will start on September 12, 2018 and the initial price of the device is around 950 euros. If we want there is also the version without the automatic tank, and so it will be us who will have to change the vacuum bag every time, which costs 699 euros.
