Roadie 2, to tune your guitar automatically in seconds

Roadie 2 is a tool to quickly tune your guitar. The device is available on Kickstarter and is looking for funds

One of the most complicated actions when you are learning to play a guitar, is being able to tune the instrument. Hours and hours lost in the hope of finding the right key. With Roadie 2, it gets easier: the smart device can detect vibrations to tune (almost) any stringed instrument.

Just connect the device to the peg – also known as a clef – on the headstock of a six-, seven- or 12-string guitar, whether classical, electric, acoustic or steel. A built-in tactile feedback gives this only 90-gram device a little jolt when it’s ready to move on to the next string. If the first Roadie required you to use your smartphone to hear the tuning via your phone’s microphone and then apply it to your guitar, Roadie 2 has a vibration sensor that allows you to tune your guitar even in noisy places and lets you choose, even from 12 presets, and set custom tunings to store.

Simple, fast, and accurate

Roadie 2, made by the company Banda Industries, features a display at the top – invisible when turned off, illuminated when in use – that allows you to select the instrument you want to tune, place it on one of the pegs, and the device gets to work. The display also shows you the level of the 500mAh rechargeable battery, which lasts for a month depending on use. The fact that Roadie 2 is now able to operate completely autonomously doesn’t mean that smartphone “support” is no longer useful as it adds more advanced functionality. And, as mentioned, it works with various stringed instruments such as, of course, various types of guitar, ukulele, mandolin, which can buy it at the discounted price of 89 instead of $149. Roadie 2, in fact, has easily collected the goal of 50 thousand dollars on Kickstarter arriving even 218 thousand dollars from over 2,300 supporters.

There is also a version for bass

Roadie 2 also has a sort of “little brother” – Roadie Bass – designed to tune basses that can be purchased, discounted, at 109 dollars (instead of 149 dollars). Those who purchase both are priced at $189. Shipments will begin next fall after getting the go-ahead for the necessary function testing, certifications, manufacturing and quality control.
