Smart TVs are among the devices most at risk of hacker attacks in the future given their vulnerability, and turning to manufacturers is not convenient
Smart TVs are a nice convenience. Being able to play games, listen to music or browse the Internet directly from the TV screen simplifies many everyday tasks in your free time. Being connected, however, these devices put our security at risk no more and no less than smartphones and PCs.
Ransomware attack blocks Smart TVs. Smart TVs can suffer all the kinds of malware attacks we often see on computers and smartphones. Anzi i cyber criminali stanno iniziando a concentrarsi molto di più su questi dispositivi, molto più vulnerabili rispetto a un normale PC o un dispositivo mobile e che l’utente difficilmente si aspetta possano provocare dei danni per la sua sicurezza e la sua privacy. Su Twitter, un utente di nome Darren Cauthon, ha riferito che la sua TV intelligente è stata infettata da un malware per Andorid. L’attacco è stato del tipo ransomware, e in pratica il dispositivo è rimasto completamente bloccato chiedendo un riscatto per potersi riattivare.

Un altro smart TV bloccato da un ransomware
Dal momento del loro lancio sul mercato le Smart TV hanno diviso i consumatori. Molti le criticano per semplicità d’uso, reale efficienza e soprattutto per i costi. Queste nuove problematiche relative agli attacchi hacker potrebbero mettere ancora più in guardia i consumatori. Anche perché LG per riattivare la TV di Cauthon ha chiesto quasi 350 dollari. Mentre l’attacco ransomware chiedeva un riscatto di poco superiore, di 500 dollari. L’avviso mostrato nel blocco era un falso annuncio FBI. Una spesa che potrebbe non valere né in una né nell’altra direzione, specie su dispositivi di almeno tre o quattro anni e di prima generazione. Questo evento comunque ci mette in guardi sull’importanza della sicurezza nel prossimo futuro. Un futuro dove tutto sarà connesso e dove ogni nostro dispositivo, se gestito in maniera non appropriata, potrà creare dei seri problemi alla nostra sicurezza e alla nostra privacy.
