PS5, unveiled the new Dualshock joypad: how it will be

A patent recently published online shows the shapes and sizes of the PlayStation 5 joypad. Only apparently identical to the old

In recent months there have been several rumors about the release of the new PlayStation 5 expected, it seems, for the upcoming Christmas period of 2020 and the same is true of the new DualShock 5 controller that will be combined with the new console.

And just in these days new images spread on the net return what seems to be the final appearance of the new DualShock 5. This time, however, the images should be the final or almost, as they depict a series of sketches of the new joypad whose patent has been registered by the giant of the Rising Sun.

The new Dualshock 5

The images filed by Sony in support of the patent show a design only apparently “classic”. Although the appearance seems to be almost identical to the joypad of the PS4, the new controller that comes with the next console from Sony has a slightly different shape and is slightly larger than the previous model.

From the image it is not clear whether the light bar that was between the Sony logo and the micro USB port has been maintained, while the slight increase in the size of the joypad could be justified by better ergonomics, the presence of a larger battery, as well as the need to make room for the introduction of new technologies such as the expected haptic vibration. Confirmed the analog sticks that seem smaller than the DualShock of the PlayStation 4 and, according to the most informed, will be adaptive type. But the images also show what appears to be an absolute novelty applied to the universe of joypads: for the first time ever, the Sony DualShock 5 will be equipped with a USB port type C for charging the device.
