Sony opens the search for testers to test the maxi update dedicated to its flagship console, PlayStation 5. Before the update is released for everyone in the coming months, the company has decided to test the operation and identify any bugs through a beta program, already open for enrollment.
At the moment, very little is still known about what the big release planned for the latest model of the Japanese gaming system will be about. The manufacturer, however, has already confirmed that in the coming weeks will be ready to reveal some detailed information on the different features added to the firmware and that users chosen for the first public test will try in advance of the audience of (lucky) owners of PlayStation 5. Many hope in the introduction of the expansion of the capacity through the integration of SSD M.2, particular memory disks characterized by significantly better performance compared to those used so far.
PS5 beta test, how it works
The update should arrive for all in the second half of the year, at the conclusion of all the analysis. In the meantime, there will be a selection among those enrolled in the program created by Sony for the occasion; those who will be chosen will be notified with a confirmation email, also containing the steps to follow to carry out any kind of test required.
Once downloaded the firmware, starting from the indications contained in the postal communication previously received, PS5 owners will be able to proceed with the installation. If the bugs encountered make it difficult to use the console or block its functions completely, it is possible to replace the software with the previous version even without waiting for the project to end.
PS5 beta test, who can access it
At the moment, subscriptions to the group set up by the technological giant are involving only a small slice of PS5 users, compared with the overall population that has already purchased the latest edition of PlayStation. The access is in fact allowed only to PS5 owners over the age of 18 years and residents of the United States, Canada, Japan, United Kingdom, France and Germany.
The registration will act in any case as a pass for this mode of experimentation, allowing access to subsequent sessions dedicated to the platform without requiring further registration in the future. For now, no extensions are contemplated for the involvement of participants from other nations but, as often happens in these cases, such decisions could change over time.
