Problems with iOS 12.1.2: what is known so far

Many users, after installing the update to iOS 12.1.2 report the inability to make calls and problems with the data connection

The update to iOS 12.1.2 would seem to be anything but a successful update for Apple’s iPhones: reports of problems, even serious, with this latest version of the operating system for mobile devices of the bitten apple continue to multiply in the United States and other countries. Among the most significant drawbacks there are problems with the data connection and even the difficulty (in some cases even impossibility) to make calls.

The iOS update to version 12.1.2 was released by Apple about ten days ago. It was supposed to fix some issues related to the use of eSIMs on iPhone XR, XS and XS Max and connectivity issues with some phone operators in Turkey. Instead, apparently, the problems created by the update are more than those solved: within a few hours, the first reports of problems with the data connection by users arrived, which Apple initially underestimated by inviting the same users to restart the smartphone. Subsequently, Apple had to take note of the seriousness and high number of problems caused by the update around the world and even released a second version of iOS 12.1.2 (which is not 12.1.3, currently in beta, but a sort of fix for the update).

iOS 12.1.2, why you can’t make calls

Not even with this second version of the update, however, have the problems been resolved. In some cases they have even worsened because reports speak of inability to make phone calls when under LTE coverage: to solve this problem users had to disable this type of connection for calls only (for data, however, no problems are reported). In the U.S. there would be the same problem with calls made over WiFi networks, which are not available in Italy.

Coming soon iOS 12.1.3

Apple has not made any official comments on these latest issues and is apparently accelerating the development of iOS 12.1.3. However, there is no official or unofficial date regarding the launch of this operating system update and, as a result, there are many owners of Apple mobile devices who have decided, as a precautionary measure, to disable automatic updates to avoid finding themselves unwittingly with iOS 12.1.2 not working on their smartphone. Finding yourself with an iPhone that fails to make calls in your hand, in fact, is not a tolerable possibility for those who have spent several hundred euros on a premium smartphone signed by Apple.
