Poste Italiane is still Down [LIVE]

The down of Poste Italiane and Poste Pay of December 15 is not yet fully resolved today, December 16. Problems and malfunctions are still reported by Poste Italiane users, both from app and from the website: users are unable to access their accounts. In addition, several services are malfunctioning, especially the PostePay app and the Banco Posta app.

The reports started appearing on the Downdetector website as early as 8.30 am on Tuesday morning, but the malfunctions exploded at 9.30 am when more and more users complained of being unable to access their Banco Posta account or their Poste Pay. Even today, December 16, no statement has been issued by Poste Italiane explaining the breakdown in progress, nor on the timing of resolution. At first, the problems were found all over the Italian territory, but after 10 am the service disruption has spread throughout Italy with a particular concentration in large cities and urban areas. Many users tried to contact the Poste Italiane Customer Service, with the only result of clogging it up. Subsequently the problems have largely returned, but this morning users are back to having problems.

Update 16/12, 10:00 am

This morning users of Poste Italiane online services continue to have several problems accessing both the Banco Posta app and the website. They also continue to report them on both Facebook and Twitter, where, however, the company is no longer responding to comments this morning. All this exactly 24 hours after the beginning of the inefficiencies, and users are beginning to think that the current situation is similar to that experienced during the sensational down of Poste Mobile on September 28, which lasted an entire day. Still no official press release from Poste.

Update 15/12, 23:00

Reports of problems with online services of Poste Italiane are now extremely reduced and almost all users are back to using the website, the Banco Posta app and the SPID PosteID. The company has not yet issued any official communication.

Update 15/12, 19:15

It seems incredible, but it’s true: after 11 hours from the beginning of the problems still many users can’t access the online services of Poste Italiane. The problems reported are always the same: impossible to access the Banco Posta app and the Poste Italiane website. The only error message continues to be “Connection problem, try again later”. Even on social networks, which continue to be the only channel through which the company responds (at times) to users, the message is always the same: “Hello, we confirm that updates are in progress. We invite you to try again later”.

Still no official press release on this matter, while the call center continues to be clogged and operators can only answer to wait and try to connect later.

Update 15/12, hrs 16:30

The problems with the digital services of Poste Italiane are not yet completely solved: the latest reports of users are in fact divided fairly evenly between those who rejoice at having solved the problems and those who still can not use one or more services of Poste Italiane. In the meantime, the company not only does not publish any press release, but it publishes one that has nothing to do with the inconvenience caused to users.

The same press release has been relaunched by the official Facebook page of Poste Italiane and targeted by users, who now have only this channel to ask when the situation will unlock. The answer of Poste Italiane, at 16:19, is still the copy and paste of the previous ones: “Hello, we confirm that updates are in progress. We invite you to try again later”.

Update 15/12 at 13:50

The problems with the digital services of Poste Italiane do not seem to have been completely solved yet: although the number of reports of inefficiencies is decreasing, still several users complain about the impossibility to access the BancoPosta app or to perform operations. It would seem, rather, that now the problems are patchy and no longer generalized throughout Italy. Several users say that the service comes and goes, even on the PosteID front, the SPID of Poste Italiane.

Poste Italiane continues to give the usual answers to users, but only in comments on social media: it has not issued any official statement and, always on social media, continues to publish news not related to the down of its services. On the Facebook page of Poste Italiane, in fact, the last two posts concern one of its financial services and the issue of a stamp. This last post has also been published on Twitter where, as on Facebook, Poste Italiane continues only to respond sporadically to the comments of angry users.

Update 15/12 11:50 am

Overwhelmed by complaints on social media, Poste Italiane has started to respond to users at least on Facebook, but in a very general way:  “Hello, we inform you that we are working to solve the problem as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience and invite you to repeat the operation at a later time. Thank you for your report”.

On Twitter, however, Poste Italiane replied: “Hello, we confirm that we are working on updates. We invite you to try again later”.

In the meantime, an equally generic response message appeared in the BancoPosta app: “Update in progress. We are working to provide you with an even better service. Try again later”.

Poste Italiane, therefore, officially confirms that it has technical problems spread throughout the Italian territory but still does not offer any information on when they will be resolved.

Poste Italiane down and PostePay down: what’s going on

According to what users have reported, the problem is the lack of connection and the impossibility to log in to their accounts. Many users have reported getting “error 500” when trying to access Poste Italiane services from the desktop, but also from the PostePay and BancoPosta apps. Other users reported “error 502”, again an error generated by problems with the servers. Other users complain of error GC01, which indicates that the access credentials were not recognized.

It is also impossible to make any kind of payment through the apps and to verify the success of incoming and outgoing transfers and card recharges.

Poste Italiane down: what do error 500 and GC01 mean

In the case of a website down, errors reported from 500 to 511 indicate server problems, as does error GC01 which indicates that login credentials, such as username and password, were not found by the site.

The Poste Italiane down on December 15 could therefore be linked to problems with the Poste servers, which have suddenly become unreachable, and it will be necessary to wait for a maintenance operation by technicians to restore all services, both from desktop and app. In the meantime, the Post Office has not released any press release about the inefficiencies in progress and the timing of repairs.
