Last week, a report published by TweakTown citing some statements made by a source close to Sony unspecified, seemed to confirm the willingness of the Japanese company to do everything possible to launch the console close to the Christmas period of 2020.
A date that, according to the revelations of the famous online magazine, however, could be postponed because of a delay due to the time needed for the procurement of AMD Ryzen chips useful to produce all PS5 planned for the initial launch. Someone, however, seems to take Sony’s word even venturing the official release date of the console, as well as the price.
PlayStation 5: the release date
The latest rumor that would seem to unveil both the official date and the selling price of the PS5 has been spread by a Slovak online store that on its site has published a page dedicated to the console of Sony. The incriminated web page has not been opened to start accepting pre-orders, but only to test the interest of fans and enthusiasts. According to the ProgamingShop website, the expected release date for the PlayStation 5 is set for December 4, 2020 and the price will be 499 euros. This is a good 100 euros more than the launch price of the PS4, but in line with the final cost of Xbox One and Xbox One X at the time of their respective launches on the market.
PlayStation 5: the price
The cost of 499 euros would seem perfectly in line with the components announced but not yet made official. We’re talking about the many rumors that have appeared on the net in recent months that see a PS5 equipped with a custom SSD drive to access data at very high speed and get a better gaming experience, the AMD x86-64 Ryzen “Zen 2” chip with eight cores and 16 threads designed ad hoc and, finally, the powerful GPU equipped with a custom AMD Radeon processor based on RDNA technology with separate 3D audio processing unit and output with theoretical resolution up to 8K.
Not only that, the price of 499 euros is identical to the one estimated a few weeks ago by Deutsche Bank that, based on the cost of production calculated around 386 and 477 dollars was assuming a final selling price of 499 dollars.
