Oppo Reno6 Z is official: features of the new mid-range

Oppo Reno6 Z has been made official in Thailand with a streaming event: good features, right price, but it is not yet certain the arrival in Europe.

The Oppo Reno6 Z, the mid-range smartphone with which the company will try to nibble away at the competition on the Asian market (but not only), where demand for smartphones is high and therefore the possibility of scoring good numbers in terms of products sold is strong.

The competition between brands and their models on the cheaper end of the market resembles a no holds barred battle. The lower the price range, the tighter the margins, and making a difference has become very difficult. However, it’s from those price ranges that big numbers in terms of sales pass, so it’s fundamental for each smartphone manufacturer to enter that market with a model that can attract as many customers as possible, thus triggering an evolutionary circle that if it doesn’t make profits skyrocket because of the slim margins, at least it increases the popularity of the company. With Oppo Reno6 Z the company wants to seize at least one of these objectives in a strategic market such as Asia, while we do not yet know when the Chinese mid-range will arrive in Europe.

Oppo Reno6 Z, technical characteristics

Oppo Reno6 Z is the latest component of the Reno6 range, a product that stands out for an AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution not too large, which may interest those who do not like smartphones with abundant dimensions.

The ratio between the front surface and the area actually occupied by the display is quite high: Oppo claims for Reno6 Z a 90.8%, achieved not so much due to the bezels (the lower one seems rather abundant from the images shown to the press), but thanks to the presence of a discrete hole in the upper left corner of the front surface that houses the 32-megapixel selfie camera.

Oppo Reno6 Z relies on MediaTek’s Dimensity 800U chip, an octa-core made with 7-nanometer manufacturing process with 2.4 GHz maximum frequency with Mali-G57 MC3 GPU; on the side are 8 GB of LPDDR4x RAM, up to 8 GB of virtual RAM and 128 GB of UFS 2 type internal storage.1.

On the camera front, Oppo Reno6 Z shows a three-element configuration: a 64-megapixel main sensor with f/1.7 aperture, an 8-megapixel ultra wide-angle sensor with f/2 aperture.2 and 119-degree field of view, finally a 2-megapixel macro with f/2.4 aperture.

The fingerprint sensor for secure unlocking is integrated inside the display, on the connectivity plane nothing is missing: 5G SA/NSA, Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 5.1, GPS/GLONASS/Beidou, USB Type-C, NFC, and 3.5mm audio jack input as well.

The battery is 4,310 mAh with wired fast charging at 30 watts. Dimensions of 160.2 × 73.38 × 7.97/7.92 mm, while the weight is 173 g.

Oppo Reno6 Z, price and availability

Oppo Reno6 Z was made official in Thailand in two colors, Aurora and Stellar Black: the list price is equivalent to 335 euros at the current exchange rate.

There is still no certainty that this mid-range smartphone from Oppo will also be distributed in Europe, but there are good possibilities. Certainly, if it does arrive, it won’t be sold at this price given the higher taxes and shipping costs.
