The OnePlus TV will be launched by the end of September. The screen will be 55 inches with QLED technology. On board there will be Android 9
It’s really close to the entry of OnePlus, already known Chinese smartphone manufacturer, in the smart TV market: in fact, the main technical specifications of the OnePlus TV have been revealed. Between official announcements of the house and rumors that are confirmed, then, today we know almost everything about the future OnePlus TV.
It is a smart TV with 55-inch screen, compatible with Dolby Vision and a processor Mediatek MT5670, a chip of which at the moment we know almost nothing. The GPU will be the Mali-G51 MP3. The technical features, starting with the choice of display technology, are good and suggest that the OnePlus TV can compete with the products of competitors, primarily those of Samsung, but in a lower price range. If so, the smart TV market could undergo a shake-up and a consecutive race to the bottom of prices.
OnePlus TV: technical specifications
Akis Evangelidis, vice-president of OnePlus France, shared an image on Twitter confirming that the OnePlus TV will have a 55-inch screen with QLED technology, an evolution of LED and a direct competitor to OLED. The same technology also used by Samsung for many of its screens. Initially it was thought, however, that the screen of the OnePlus TV had a resolution of 1080p and was not, as everyone expected, compatible with 4K. In reality, then it turned out that the 1080p resolution is referred only to the interface and menus of Android Tv (in version 9). The RAM will be 2.5 GB, while the main CPU will be a quad core Cortex-A53 at 1.5 GHz (the three cores of the Mali G51 will be clocked at 700 MHz).
Strong integration with Google Android TV
OnePlus also announced that one of the strengths of the OnePlus Tv will be its operating system, Android Tv 9, optimized for the hardware built into the smart Tv. The interface will also be very customized and the TV will be able to talk with smartphones and, in the future, with the Google Nest Hub and other smart devices of the house. The goal, then, is not only to offer buyers a good smart TV but also to make this TV the control center of the smart home.
OnePlusTv: when it comes out and how much it costs
There is no official date yet for the OnePlus Tv to arrive in stores. The smart TV from OnePlus will be officially unveiled by September, to be marketed first in India and then also in the US and EU. The price, at the moment, is top secret.
