OnePlus 7 Pro, the smartphone with the “perfect” screen

The Chinese manufacturer lets leak official details about the OnePlus 7 Pro, next top of the range that will be presented in mid-May. Here are the features

Big start for OnePlus 7 Pro, the new top-of-the-line smartphone that will be presented during not one but four events: three will be held on May 14 (in London, New York and Bangalore) and one on May 16 (in Beijing). In the course of these four events we will finally learn about all the real technical features of this long-awaited flagship smartphone, destined to compete with the top of the range already presented this year by other manufacturers: first and foremost the Samsung Galaxy S10+ and Huawei P30 Pro.

Anchor before the launch, however, OnePlus has bought two entire pages of the New York Times to show the world an “X-ray” of its new flagship and, finally, announced that it has already received the A+ rating from DisplayMate for its screen. In the space of a few hours, therefore, have come out a lot of official news about this device that partly confirm what we already knew from rumors. What is unfortunately not yet known, however, is the final price: many fear that it is very high, but the same OnePlus, from the pages of the NYT, tries to throw water on the fire knowing that it is precisely the price variable that could make the buyer inclined towards the OnePlus 7 Pro, instead of competitors such as Samsung or Huawei.

OnePlus 7 Pro: final design

From the front page of the NYT we discover the final design of the OnePlus 7 Pro: no notch, the front camera is a pop up retractable type, while the rear cameras are three positioned vertically in the center of the body. One of the three cameras has a 3X zoom lens. From the NYT’s second page, however, we learn that the OnePlus 7 Pro won’t have “frills, useless apps, app lag, random music or a $2,000 price tag” but will simply be “a better phone.”

OnePlus 7 Pro: the perfect screen

With regards to the screen, however, OnePlus reported that the OnePlus 7 Pro’s display got an A+, which is the highest rating, in DisplayMate’s independent tests thanks to “color rendering accuracy, brightness, contrast accuracy and pixel density.” And if one test isn’t enough, OnePlus brings two: the second is from Germany’s VDE Testing and Certification Institute, which awarded the 7 Pro the “Safety for Eyes” certification for its ability to filter out harmful blue light.

OnePlus 7 Pro: camera at the levels of Samsung and Huawei

If the screen will be the strong point of the new OnePlus 7 Pro, it seems that the photo section will not be outdone. According to the editorial staff of Wired UK, which managed to test the cameras of this device in preview, the quality of the shots would have almost nothing to envy to that of the shots taken with the top of the range Samsung and Huawei. The 3X zoom lens, in particular, would be great even if lower than the 5X mounted on the Huawei P30 Pro and, in any case, through the digital zoom the 7 Pro reaches up to 10X. Videos, then, are great thanks to the stabilizer built into the lens. Very good would also be the night mode and portrait mode, while still nothing is known about the third camera that is supposed to be a wide-angle lens.
